“Researchers…”
What’s limiting the economic incentives on streets named after Martin Luther King?

This is all this is really about. Corrupt politicians stealing tax payers money by creating fake jobs that don’t do anything.

Are they still stealing St George's money, or is it being put into escrow during the lawsuit? If they are going to create more committees for this, they have to be paid for somehow. I thought BR was broke without St George cash.

The streets named after presidents should be renamed after LSU sports icons.

The advisory committee has spent the past seven months trying to itemize a list of street names that could be deemed divisive, and gathering research to build arguments on why the time has come to change them.
Funding an advisory committee like this is a nice example as to why St George is a thing

Is this some unique Louisiana law?
It is the law in East baton rouge parish. The people impacted by the change have to make the change. If I remember correctly, the person wanting to kick off the petition has to live on the street as well.
This is my recollection from an advocate article some time back. The author lamented the residents having a say in their evil racy raceiness.

BTW new Family Court Judge.
This is such utter bullshite. I am a failure/gangbanger because I grew up on Stuart street.

So when the streets are renamed and the crime continues what will be their excuses? It’s worked so well in New Orleans

Glad you recognize it.
It's just like Middleton Library.
No one gave a watery shite about it until some agitator came along and convinced the easily swayed that all their problems are because of the names of things.

And when this case is reassigned to one of the Johnsons or White after Morvant retires, you can kiss St. George goodbye.

Most of this is bs, but we might want to change “Whitehaven”
I never thought of it growing up, but kind of hard to whitewash this name.

I think they meant streets named after former Presidents and any street named "Martin Luther King Boulevard"

LEE drive is about to be Malcolm X Blvd.
Or something stupid like Spruce or Cypress. Only a foolish institution would name things like that.

Let's compare these streets and the ones based after Presidents, States and Indian tribes and let's see who is worse.

Voters approved it. It’s not going away. Best they can do is delay.
