Yup, have you read Agrarian Justice? In which he argues for UBI and early forms of other welfare? Guess who he wanted to tax for em too.

I remember reading a JPJ biography in 4th or 5th grade not exactly like the one below but similar. "I have not yet begun to fight" is what I remember the most.

So is the US Navy breaking the law? I don't see how his tomb has a view of the water.

Without Paine, I could make a strong argument that we would not have had our revolution.
Paine moved to America just six months before Lexington and Concord, and Common Sense was not published until almost a year after that.
Not to diminish his contribution, but the success of Common Sense was due to the revolutionary spirit of the time, not the other way around.

I Mandelaed myself. I thought it was JPJ but it's the tomb of the unknown. But I still think I did a time skip since CERN started to shut down.

My dad's side of the family is in this group. They arrived well before the revolution and did very well for themselves. While they didn't end up destitute, they loaned the majority of their wealth to the war effort and were never repaid. Our name has a commemorative brick in a chapel at Valley Forge, apparently. We've looked for it, but didn't see it.
