Remember the N. Charleston officer who shot the guy in the back? He just plead guilty

Slager reached the agreement with prosecutors a week before a jury was supposed to be selected for his trial in federal court. The deal called for the dismissal of a separate state murder charge and of two other federal counts: lying to investigators and using a firearm in a violent crime.
Though a sentence was not agreed upon, the plea eliminates the unpredictability of a jury trial and will place key issues affecting Slager’s punishment squarely in the hands of a judge, who must decide whether the officer committed murder or some other crime in shooting Scott. That milestone will happen during a separate hearing in the coming weeks.

The first state trial resulted in a hung jury, but he is still eligible for a ton of years in federal court.
He is still eligible for life imprisonment. But, under the agreement, he will get some sort of reduction.

Serious question for the legal eagles out there- how can a federal plea deal force the state to dismiss its murder charges?
Or would they (state DA) have had to agree to this before offering the feds offered their plea?

White, black, red, orange.. I'm all for holding those who are wrong accountable. He shot the dude in the back while he was running away. This was not self defense.

good he will get raped and beaten to a pulp in jail. Cops like him are freaking it up for majority of the good ones.
