Spent a great deal in Laurel, Mt for work. I was doing cartwheels, in the parking lot, when I saw they had a Pizza Hut with the all you can eat buffet. That salad bar...

There used to be a pizza chain called Shakys. Used to go to the one in Macon ga in the early 70s. They had this old woman that played the piano for singalongs on Friday and Saturday night. Corny but good fun, especially after you had gotten a pitcher of Papst Blue Ribbon in your gullet.

Good luck finding a sitdown Pizza Hut with a salad bar.

Can't even find one serving salads at all much less the salad bar. All I really want are the dressings.

I remember me and my friends packing away that huge 2 foot by 2 ft pizza back in the early 90’s after football games.

We’d go and get a couple of these and some pitchers of beer (one guy had a fake ID plus the Pizza Hut manager was related to our QB. LOL

Was Pizza Hut the Bigfoot? Or was that Little Caesars...I think Pizza Hut. Yep.

Correct. Little Ceaser’s had “Pizza by the Foot,” though.

I miss the old days. People actually went places with friends and family. They didn’t get everything delivered. And when they went places, they didn’t sit around staring at their phones.

The modern world sucks balls.

It's Pizza Hut's fault I don't go there anymore. They shut down the buffet during COVID and haven't opened it back up.

I worked at the George O’Neal location for years back in the 90s. I was there for the seafood pizza, taco pizza, chunky pizza, Bigfoot, smokehouse pizza (the best), six cheese pizza, steak lovers pizza, and numerous others. The worst was when Stuffed crust first came out. It was nonstop orders and we were constantly running out. Everything turned to shite when they sacrificed quality and switched to frozen dough discs and got rid of the Red Roofs.

That's a lot of extra words to say "YUM took over".

Actually, PepsiCo bought it in the late 70s. It didn’t start going downhill til the late-90s.

In about 1971, first pizza that I ever ate was in a Pizza Hut in Tupelo, Mississippi. I remember frequenting the one in Bastrop, Louisiana in the mid to late 70s. Remember feeding the jukebox while waiting for pizza....always played Southern Nights and Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell. It was a special deal to load up and go out to eat. Seems like the pizza was better back then also. Learned to like salad at the Hut.

Loved Shakey's back in the late 70's. Had silent movies and a giant target game or shite.

Gen X'r checking in here...

Growing up in Virginia before it went to sh!t...it was always Pizza Hut or Pizza Inn back then in our town, but Pizza Hut was usually the winner like you all said due to the salad bar and pitchers of soda. Only thing I remember about Pizza Inn was the the sauce was always a little more spicy.

Makes me sad that the Pizza Hut officially closed in the town I grew up after a long time this February :(

My dad loved some Budweiser pitchers..

Pizza Hut was always a great reward but if the family was getting fancy, like you brought up Bonanza. I still remember how terrific the texas toast was...have not eaten at one of those in close to 40 years :(

We used to go eat out at the one on Cresswell in the '70s and '80s but mostly went to Pizza Shack during the '80s onward.

My two favorite places growing up in Gonzales were the Pizza Hut and the Western Sizzler.

Naw, we went to Shakey's Pizza. It was much more classy and they have you free dessert on you're birthday
