You don’t have a credit score of 840. That’s the reason why you were rejected.

My credit score is 820 and got rejected for a costco credit card.

Applied again the next day and it went through

I think their algorithms just shite the bed occasionally.

My AMEX says "member since 1984" on it. I was 6 years old that year. I don't know how they don't have a simple algorithm to catch that. I don't correct it because it shows that I have 34 years of good credit history

seems like a dti problem.

You can have millions of cash, in multiple bank accounts, an 840 credit score --- but if your CURRENT income is not pretty versus your debts.... you will get rejected.

And by the way, I doubt you have an 840 credit score.

Why would you doubt that?

If you take care of your business and pay your bills you will have a great credit score. Last time I checked mine about 6 months ago it was 850. I am sure it has dropped since I paid my home and my truck off. I am told that you can't keep a high score unless you are carrying a certain amount of debt. Who cares I rather be debt free than have a high credit score.

My paw paw died a few years ago with no credit score. He was worth several million dollars at his death but had never borrowed a dime in his life. He had to pay a deposit to turn on his satellite TV

So your score is good but you're broke and applying for a lot of credit to burn in the bankruptcy

Couple that with multiple credit inquiries appearing to be credit shopping.

Credit shopping + iffy debt/income ratio + limited banking with issuer = bankruptcy looming red flag

Your credit score doesn't take income/assets into account. Your bank will when deciding whether to approve your loan or not. You can make 18k per year and have $50 in your checking account and have an 820 score.

If you’ve applied for and received too mny cards in a certain period of time you’re an automatic denial despite your score.
