That video would have been a lot funnier 50 years ago when they could beat the shite out of recruits.

Yup. My Dad was a recruiter at RSS Lake Charles from 86-90 and the NCOIC there from 88-90. He did similar things to his DEP poolees. Prevents them from going to MCRD with a stupid gene.

The other two marines at 0:08 thought it was funny. Probably put the recruit up to it so they can sit back and watch the ensuing entertainment

Just watched it again. The one with the green clip board told him to do it. He's already looking that way and smiling before the recruit says it.

We had a few kids do this. Was a Marine Corps recruiter from 2011-2014. Couldn't stand it though when our SgtMaj "put his hat back on" for events like this. Both of the Sergeant's Majors I had were douchebags on recruiting.

When I was in boot camp, we were stamping our names on our equipment. One of the RDCs told one of the recruits to stamp another RDC's hand by "accident". When the kid stamped his hand, the RDC who received the stamp went completely apeshit while the other one was trying his damndest not to laugh hysterically in the background. Easily the funniest moment in those 9 shitty weeks.

Yes he was set-up.

In basic my MTI loved sending me into the chow hall and snapping to attention in front of the elevated table where the other MTIs were eating to deliver a message to one of them that were still eating. Usually it was something that would not be allowed today. It was their way of breaking up the day and seeing who was the most fearless/stupid in their basic flight.

I enjoyed it because it got me out of standing around with my dick in my hand as we used to say. After basic I went back to Lackland and found my old MTI and we laughed about it.

I was scrolling to the bottom to respond to that post. Whenever there is a military thread, I never have any idea what they are talking about because of all the acronyms.

RSS Lake Charles

This stands for Recruting Sub Station. The RS (Recruiting Station) is the command element at the USMEPCOM (United States Military Entrance Processing Station). The RSS is the main Recruiting Office for that area, and usually has a PCS (Permanant Contact Station) or two, which is another office usually with only one recruiter. The Rss usually has anywhere from 3-7 Recruiters with a SNCOIC (Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge) for that area. Back in 88-90 like the guy said his dad was the NCOIC (Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge) is the same thing today as a SNCOIC. Dep is the Delayed Entry Program which gives poolees (Young men and women who have sworn in) time before going to Recruit Training. MCRD is Marine Corps Recruit Depot. There are two places Marines go, MCRD San Diego and MCRD Paris Island. All females go to MCRD Paris Island, SC, as well as, male recruits east of the Mississippi. However, just because one lives east of the Mississippi, does not mean they go to MCRD Paris Island because their RS more than likely belongs west of the Mississippi ex. I joined from Illinois, but I enlisted out of RS St. Louis, MO. Or if you are legacy having a family member go to MCRD Paris Island, a recruit can ask to go there, but females can again only train at MCRD Paris Island.

Sooooooo many acronyms in the military ranging from basic shite to in-depth things and processes.
