Damn, the Corps swapped the iron sights out for the ACOG in boot camp?

And that's not even 1% of acronyms used on recruiting. Imagine now how many are taught in 13 weeks in recruit training, then MCT (Marine Combat Training), SOI (School of Infantry), MOS schools (Military occupational specialty), the Fleet (Marine Corps after school/Operating Force), performing their MOS learning their job, and progressively going to advanced courses, NCO & SNCO academics, annual training requirements, and adding additional billets or lat moving (changing jobs) in addition to mentoring Marines and everything else that continues. So much more that I don't feel like typing

Just watched it again. The one with the green clip board told him to do it. He's already looking that way and smiling before the recruit says it.
Yep - noticed that as well.
The only thing DI's and DS's love more than messing with a recruit is messing with other DI's and DS's.

You see that’s what I never joined, bc I could never remember all that.

Was never shady personally, but I know what you mean and the many ways it can be meant

That video would have been a lot funnier 50 years ago when they could beat the shite out of recruits.
You can go back a little sooner than that. I know of at least 4 separate incidents at MCRD San Diego that happened in the early 90's. Of course it wasn't "authorized discipline" but it was applied liberally.
Seemed to work out all right for ALCON.

I saw Jordanian Special Forces training recruits one time. They use horse whips, a lot, on recruits that run too slow or have trouble climbing walls. Try climbing a wall with three guys screaming in Arabic whipping the hell out of your back.

It was 2012, they were still using them when I EASed in 11, but they had just implemented qualling with the ACOG.

In basic my MTI loved sending me into the chow hall and snapping to attention in front of the elevated table where the other MTIs were eating to deliver a message to one of them that were still eating.
MTI, huh?
Did this happen before or after they gave you ice cream?

Got ya. Yeah iirc, I qualled on the range in 2010 with one because we deployed right after (I think that was pretty new for the fleet around that time), but didn't remember when it was implemented in recruit training. I do remember some of my poolees talking about it, but that was my last concern (talking about iron sights/ACOG) while on recruiting haha!

First off those “recruits” hair cuts are real long as hell. Second they are wearing purple shirts? That didn’t look like Parris Island or MCRD SD. I guess USMC boot camp has changed a great deal since I was on Parris Island. And the DI’s did physically correct us. I got a bottom lip busted from my second hat DI.

That's a pool function, more than likely a 'mini bootcamp'. They do it with the high school kids before school ends. They also have drill instructor night where they get chewed out in front of parents. There's a lot of shite that goes into these kids.
Posted on 12/10/18 at 6:57 pm to Mr. Misanthrope
What’s the point of the screaming? Every drill Sargent video i see they are yelling at the top of their lungs.

Oh ok thank you for clearing that up. I was really beginning to think all had gone to hell. And I was (still am) a shite bird of the highest caliber.

quote:yep. I never saw anything like this at MCRD San Diego in 1970. No girls there. And that recruit would have the deck swabbed with his arse. Probably would be placed in the motivation Platoon.
