I think the bourbon and tobacco industry have a lot of behind the scenes push against it in our state. Im as conservatice as it gets...legalize it. Considering how much pot is grown in this state, passing up that tax revenue is assinine by the boys in Frankfort. Would also help a lot of small town farmers.

I hear you, but that's not the point. We are legally allowed to consume intoxicating substances that are debatably more harmful(alcohol). Who am I kidding though, it isn't about the health of the electorate.

Louisiana residents(a group I happily no longer belong to) will have to wait until their lawmakers find a way to make money off of it.

Alcohol is worse for you and it’s not a debate.

Louisiana is too stupid to legalize it recreational bc of politics. For a state that is always in the red (similar to Colorado before they legalized it) we could actually fund the state and have money to spare (although I don’t trust the legislators to spend correctly). There is no argument that alcohol is legal and worse for you than a federally illegal plant

Not really. Medical was a joke. You simply paid 29.99 for a piece of paper that could be photo copied without a central database. Furthermore the diseases listed for treatment included anxiety which left it open for every single resident. Medical was just the umbrella they used to get it initially passed. Charlottes strain ( and others like it) was never the goal of legalization.

I'm sure Louisiana will be one of the last states to do this cuz Louisiana.

I'm sure my state, Georgia, will give you guys a run for your money. I seriously doubt I'll live to see it legal here, at least not recreational

The Senate Majority Leader (Damon Thayer - R) literally said even though his constituents want it to come to a vote he personally doesn't believe in it so he won't bring it to the Senate floor. Because he "feels like" it wouldn't the votes. And then said to his people, "If they don't like it they can vote me out.".

Last polled, something like 70% of Kentuckians want full legalization. But there's no mechanism in the state to bring it to a ballot referendum to let us vote on it. Has to happen in state congress.

Yes I know how ridiculous the medical marijuana laws have been. It’s almost like it’s been my job for years working in cannabis regulation.

But just admit you made a mistake. In 1996 there were zero states with legal rec. you tried to call me out and failed. It happens, no big deal.

I noticed over time that numerous cannabis dispensaries opened in Trinidad, CO which is just over the border with NM and on I 26. Way more weed stores than necessary for such a small town and certainly the only reason for so many would have been demand caused by people from NM (and Texas). Now that NM has recreational pot and retail stores open in Raton and Clayton, Trinidad bud tenders may see a decrease in demand. I love capitalism.

same thing here. small-town ontario OR has a thriving weed scene because it's the closet place to boise ID (where it is illegal). the kids just cross the border into OR and then drive back to ID with their stash.

it's been legal in AZ for a while, and i support decriminalization/legalization from a personal freedom standpoint. but it's annoying as hell to be on the trails or in the woods or at the mountain lake and have to smell that shite.

The feds need to get off their arse and deschedule it. The fact that people can’t partake in legalized states because of stupid fricking laws needs to stop but no one at the national level has any fricking nuts.

A bill just passed the House, the MORE Act, which decriminalizes weed and improves banking for legal states. It will inevitably be filibustered in the Senate, though if it were happen to pass Biden has expressed support for legalization.

Michigan is wide open now. You can just walk into the dispensary and buy what you want.

It didn't seem hard to get a card years back to begin with. I just wonder if they'll try to disallow buying firearms in some states if you have a card. I know for a CCP there might be issues but in general, having hunting rifles and what not, if that would create a headache.

IIRC the Form 4473 or whatever asks about "addiction" and "abusing" any drugs, which seems like that could create issues. More infringement perhaps.

Yep and promotes horse racing while waxing about the moral issues against sports gambling (another bill that stalled here too).

Just frustrating.

It's got social justice boondoggles built into the bill all but guaranteeing failure in the Senate. Why not have just be a clean simple decrim bill, and then work on all the rest of the provisions needed to make it viable with other bills?

Form 4473 says "an illegal user of or addicted to any substance..." ATF has already "ruled" that any use of MJ, including approved medical use or legal recreational use, is an ILLEGAL federal act and disqualifies you from gun ownership. Unless you are Hunter Biden of course. They will have to change that ruling if MJ is legalized federally.
