I never recline my seat on a domestic flight. It’s rude and unnecessary. However, long haul international flights are a different animal. You generally have a bit more leg room, and those few degrees make a huge difference in back pain over the course of ten hour flight.

If I lean my seat back I may experience 20% more comfort but a larger person behind me may experience 100% more discomfort. I'm a polite person and care about others so no I do not recline.

Only recline if its a fat baw behind me. Hopefully they’ll get the point of they need to lose some weight when I recline

If you fly economy, you can't complain about space.

I fly economy, I recline my seat and if someone in front of me does, well, them's the breaks

That's basically my opinion as well. Just not worth it on most flights.

I mean they paid for the seat and can do whatever they please with it as long as it’s within the rules of the airline. However if they do then I don’t feel too bad when I bump their seat.

but they paid for their seat and it’s their right.

My counter to this is I paid to be able to put my tray out and have my laptop open to do some work. Being 6'3, when the seat comes back I cannot open my screen up to a high enough angle to see it sufficiently.

Depends on who is sitting behind me.

You do you. You paid for the damn seat.

This is one of the many reasons why I fly Delta One when available. Just a much better experience overall.

I'm going to recline my seat and the person behind me is going to take it. It's not my fault if someone behind me isn't capable of not selecting a seat in the last row.

If a seat being reclined 4-5 inches is such a big deal to you then I would suggest you plan accordingly. I'm not sacrificing my comfort for your poor decision making

I don't fly a lot, but when I do, I never had given it a second thought about reclining. Can't say I recline much, but, I guess I figured it wouldn't be offered if there wasn't room for it to happen. Now, I reckon, I will be more situation aware, like a Navy Seal team member.

If someone reclines in front of me they are getting knees to the seat the whole flight

this is the only correct answer. If you need space, sit first class or exit row.

Have no problem doing it and no problem if other people do it. It really doesn't make that much of a difference, unless you are fat of course.

i don’t understand this. I am a big dude and I don’t care if you recline your seat. I recline mine when window seated and I need to nap

Do you not like the seat being closer to your face or something?

If you recline your seat too, then its the same exact distance it started out as.

You can choose the middle ground and perform the semi recline. You sacrifice a little for the person behind you.
