There’s a Farmers Market on Sundays, but can’t recall if it is in Abita or Covington.
Saturday is Covington and Mandeville Farmer’s markets, Sunday is Abita.

Thank you. Will make note of this. I don’t live there, but visit my daughter on weekends when our schedules allow.

Covington Beer Garden is cool and busy with stuff most days. Lot of events at the trailhead right there. Numerous great restaurants around there as well.
Chimes is great, stays pretty busy.
Barley Oak and Pats on the Lakefront are cool hang outs too.
Anchor in Madisonville is nice.
there's a nice Chili's in Mandeville, near the little Target.
Five Guys is top notch too

Louisiana Renaissance Festival outside Hammond is still going on.
I brought my family there a few years ago. It was interesting but we all caught what felt like Middle Ages dysentery. Obviously it was something we ate.

We stopped into there a couple of years ago, and they really built that place up. Its nice. I hadn't been there previous to that since like 2008 or so.

No golf courses like Rock Creek in that area
My brother lives in Beau Chene and is a member of Beau Chene CC so I'm good there

Thanks for the recs...especially the downtown Covington ones. I was passing thru downtown Abita Springs last Friday and there was a cool looking restaurant/bar with live music playing. What's that place called?
I like Barley Oak. Been a few times over the last few years when visiting.
La Lou down the street has a good brunch
Pat Gallagher's 527 is expensive but very good. Probably my favorite restaurant in the area.
Chimes - very solid for what it is...a nice place to watch games with solid
food and a nice craft beer selection
Copeland's of New Orleans - I realize it's technically a chain but probably my favorite New Orleans style chain restaurant.
Can't think of the name of it but there's a somewhat "newer" (only about a 5 or 6 year old) restaurant a couple of blocks down the lakefront street heading west from the Barley
Oak that is decent and has open deck seating.

We are looking to be in Madisonville though.
i was in madisonville, and i work across the lake. i had to move to mandeville. getting across the lake and being like 8 miles from home and still taking another 45 minutes due to 22 traffic and the bridge was too much.

That place exploded recently in population. It's like Mandeville almost now.

Cov/Mandeville is much better. Fairhope is one of the most overrated towns on the planet.

Aperitif (on lakefront) is a must. Other good lakefront spots are Barley Oaks and Pat's Rest a While.
Leonardo's has amazing Italian food, best prices in the area. Nuvolari's is also good.
Both Mandeville and Covington have trailhead events, including concerts in the spring and fall. Covington is Thursday and Mandeville is Friday. They bring in some excellent bands and you can attend for free.
Coffee Rani is a good casual dining spot, breakfast through dinner, with locations in Covington and Mandeville.

My parents living in Covington, great place. Just one big suburb.
If I were you, I would look at moving into one of the gated places in Mandeville. It is so click -ish there. but if you were to move into a place like Beau Chene or the sanctuary, you become part of the click by default because no one is from there. That is all changing though because the white flight is 30/40 years old now and generations are starting to stick around beside the 7 families that were originally from there.
The whole area is really great for raising a family though. Just might have to go 45 minutes south or 45 minutes east to get adult weekends every now and then.
You should definitely move from Covington to either Mandeville or Madisonville though. Covington is the old part so its becoming the poor part. and with the poor comes the problems.
