Reason and Objectivity Are Dead

In my view, there is really only one reasonable conclusion to reach based on the events of the past week: Floyd's death was a criminal act; the looting and rioting were rife with criminal acts. The rule of law should be applied equally to all.
And yet I awoke this morning to chorus of media coverage - some from once venerable and respected outlets - that justified, excused, or otherwise apologized for the rioting. Some pieces suggested that the riots were the inevitable and richly-deserved comeuppance for historical racism (a position that negates individual volition, individual guilt, and the rule of law.) Others struck a more ominous tone: implying that if some unspecified demands were not met, more damage and suffering would be inflicted on the persons and property of innocents. This is a mantra more suited to a domestic terrorist organization than a civil rights movement. I am shocked at the number of otherwise educated and intelligent commentators who are willing to publically contort themselves to find convoluted apologies for flagrantly criminal conduct. It's irrational and intellectually dishonest. And infuriating, to be frank.

I dont feel sorry for anyone, and as far as I'm concerned they just took their underserved reparations from the stores.

If the response is going to be that the rioting and looting are justified then an absolute limit needs to be set that specifically defines when the price has been paid.
Add the damages to the reparations sum too.

I have culled my social media of people making justifications for either Chauvin or the rioters. Both are contemptible. I'm not going to listen to any argument that "this isn't the time to be upset about lighting our cities on fire and hurting innocent business owners." Is that placing myself into a bubble? Yes, a bubble with fewer retarded opinions.

Progressivism is regulated solely by whatever particular emotion or passion that any random Progressive feels at any particular moment in time. There is no requirement for truth, facts or critical thinking- in fact those things are disparaged. It’s Mob Rule and nothing more.

Just like any journalistic integrity of their former workplace.
It's time to move on from beating this extinct horse.

Objectivity was always an illusion, but the veil has been lifted completely. Partisanship has always been the name of the game, it’s just finally out in the open.
We exist in a post-truth world. The institutions charged with defining what is fact verses what is fiction have revealed themselves to also be driven by partisan interests, willing to reject obvious truths and parrot falsehoods out of a spirit of political gamesmanship.
All truth has become subjective. All humor has become partisan politics. All news has become activism. All communication has become surveillance. All law-enforcers have become criminals. All preachers are sinners. All sinners are saints. The objective has become subjective, and the subjective objective.
Our entire society and the rule of law have been revealed to be but a shibboleth. It is up to each and every one of us to decide what is true to us, and live accordingly.

Smooth sailing from here on out.

And you're just noticing this? Did you spend recent decades in a coma?

The most troubling aspect in all of this - Covid, Floyd, etc. is the complete irrelevance of truth.
Media and politicians will straight faced tell us that it's a common thing for black people to be killed by the police for minor crimes or no reason at all. It's verifiably false.
The same people will start getting uncomfortable if you ask them if burning a business or beating up a person in the street is wrong, because they're so terrified of being deemed unwoke.
Truth is dead.

Unfortunately, I don't believe this is a viable path forward. The views of one sect will inevitably clash with the views of another. Without reason or the rule of law to mediate, these disputes will be settled by force and violence.

Agree. This is disturbing.

It is not meant to be sustainable. This is an engineered collapse. Your goal is not to prevent it or simply survive it, but to win it. The winner will get to decide what the truth is, was, and shall be going forward.
When being armed with the truth isn’t enough, arm yourself with the law. When the law is not enough, it is time to arm yourself with arms.

Got to go with this being my favorite example over the week.

This is grim. But I have to admit I've had similar thoughts. Is it your view, then, that we are inexorably headed towards schism, armed conflict, war?

The war has been ongoing for 60 years. This is a culture war. It may become a shooting war, but I’m not certain. I don’t know in what form this revolution will be concluded, but it is always escalating. The only constant is change. Peace and democracy are never sustainable long term. The end result is always empire, collapse, or Balkanization.
