Individual that hits me works for state highway division as an employee. 20 minutes later a special agent shows up taking pics of my bumper, then cop shows up, writes report, and cop tells me to call my insurance company or buy crash report off buy crash .com. Obviously they're hoping I file a claim first and pay a deductible. Insight? Just felt weird.

Special agent shook my hand and said thanks for "not being irate."

Because the police department has to publish a police report and he's sending me to a website that appears to be a non government website.

Ask them to pay fair price for the dmg and any injuries. If they refuse, call a lawyer.

Probably a kiddy porn site that they sucker people into going to so they can blackmail you into not suing them.

I don't know, I've been in another fender bender and the cop directed me to the county governments website for the police report and it was some shite small county in Alabama that surprisingly had computers. I'm now in a metro with 2 million people.

Sounds like they have a third party housing and managing their police reports.

Not sure what is sketchy about this.

frick everyone in this thread that says to sue just because. You do realize you are actually saying "take my tax dollars that could go to roads and schools and, while you are at it, make sure I pay higher insurance rates too." Are you people really that fricking stupid?

This. Now the lazy gov't employee doesn't have to find it, copy it, and deal with the public but still get the fee.
