If you think you can do a simple proposal (it doesn't have to be cheap, just not a grand gesture) and she'll like it, it also bodes well for the type of person she is, IMO.

Congrats man, and I hope she says yes if that is what you want. There's no guarantees that it will last a lifetime, but enjoy it while it lasts. You may be one of those couples that see 50+ years of marriage.

Don’t be too attached to the “marriage” aspect. You can love and do everything you want with ole gal/baw without surrendering most of your livelihood and thought process as you know it. Yeah I sound dumb to most southerners but it is far more financially/economically/emotionally beneficial to not marry your mate. Marriage is exclusively for the benefit of the government first and foremost; but highly respected by those who are all about America’s half lame arse traditions and govy slave way if life. Marriage is not a requirement to have a family. It only restricts much of your freedoms and implemented to further dock your income.
I ain’t a baw, don’t do traditions and avoid government commitments so there’s that!
