Realistic job expectations

Many of you are established men who have worked 25+ years and have established a comfortable living.
With that said, how does one know what he is worth. How do you know if you are being paid reasonably for a job.
For example, I want a 65k to 70k engineering job. I'm willing to negotiate, but I have standards.

I want a paid off mortgage and an OT 10 who drives my boat around topless while blowing me but we can't have everything we want.

1. How many years experience do you have?
2. What type of engineering?
3. Willing to relocate?

You're reasonably satisfied with it, relative to whatever work it is that you are doing.
There is no appraisal process for human beings. You are worth whatever value that the organization believes you bring to it, and however easy/hard it would be to replace you.

What kind of engineer and did you get engineering degrees from both schools?

Volos, what discipline is your degree in?

Rule No. 1 of corporate personnel valuation:
If you're good at what you do, you're probably worth more than what you're getting paid.

1. My BS is Physics, my MS is Electrical Engineering
2. Combined work experience almost 2 years. (Research requiring programing and Unix)
3. YES. I would have no issue moving.

Do you want to work in a plant or an office?

Either would be fine. I prefer indoor work, but I am not against getting my hands dirty.

I got 72.5k for my BSEE in Texas. If your thesis was in anything semi conductor and you maintained a 3.9 or higher, apply to intel / amd / hp / samsung.

based on those qualifications you should have no problem getting over 70k no matter where your BS and MS are from. It all depends on what type of work you want to do and the type of person you are. There are jobs out there where you could get paid 50k while there are other ones where you get paid 80k. I'm civil and from what I've seen, the industrial industry(energy, chemical, ect.) offers the best paying jobs early in your career.
I just relocated for a job and got a very nice pay bump.

Without being an EIT? Let me know when/where you get it, I'll send Mrs P to finally start making some goddamn money.
Serious advice, take the FE, ya lazy bum.
