I got 72.5k for my BSEE in Texas.
Thats great. However, I am assuming you went to University of Texas or Texas AM. Essentially one of the better universities in Texas.

Ironically, I initially wanted do something more semiconductor based. My actual thesis (more of a project) was focused on EMI shielding and how to implement and measure its effectiveness.
PS EMI is electromagnetic interference for those who may not be familiar with that terminology.

Tough love doesn't require an apology. I wouldn't hire a doctor who didn't take the BAR exam and I wouldn't hire an accountant who didn't take the accounting exam. I have no idea how easy or hard the "future excellent" engineering test is, but he should at least take the damn thing if he wants to engineer!!!
Tough love!!! I know what's best for our little guy and I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit here and watch him piss his life away!!!! Sorry for caring too goddamn much!!!

No!! He hasn't taken it!!! And as his internet friends it's our role, no our duty, to make sure he does!!!!
V, I googled it, there's a test in October. You gonna be there? We'll help you study and shite, it'll be like a Rocky montage.

EEs don't need PEs if they are going to just do work for industry unless you get really high up. If you are going to do government work you should get it.

Well, first off, I have no problem with the "tough love" (although in this case its tough advice, you cant love who you don't know)
I never really thought about the FE for two main reasons
1) In my last year of Physics, I wanted a career change between trying again for EE or simply going into an MS in another Professional program (nano-systems, Industrial, Business, etc.)
so I was not really focused on the exams.
2) Most forums I read (professional and casual) suggest that overall EE is not really a PE oriented engineering. Unless your job requires it, there is no real benefit to having one. The vast majority of EE find work without it.
I have always known about the FE and its potential.

He doesn't have a degree that qualifies him to be a PE, so I doubt they'll let him sit for the FE.
bullshite that he's got this salary requirement.
Get a fricking JOB...then worry about getting a better one. Thinking you deserve 70k for nothing is a joke. I'm thinking 45-50. Degrees don't have inherent value, what YOU know does.

As for the rest, if all that is accurate about electrical then best of luck to you. I've never heard that but I've never researched it either. Best of luck sir.

A master's in electrical can't get you a PE?

Masters programs are not ABET accredited, especially from Southern. LSUs MS engineering degrees aren't either.
He couldn't pass that shite anyway.

Ive always thought you can sit for the FE and take the PE 2 years after work experience if you have masters in engineering not dependent on your bachelor's.

With that said, how does one know what he is worth.
You are worth what the market will bear. The more experienced/trained you are - the more you are worth.

I want a 65k to 70k engineering job
Have you even graduated yet? What job market are you looking to be in - is that standard for recent graduates?

Good, because you, more than likely, will not get what you're looking to get right off the bat.

You are worthy whatever a company deems you are worth. Get a job if you don't have one already, and work your butt off. The money willi come.
I have never tied my self-worth to my salary, but I have researched similar folks in my field to see what I thought was "market value."

So tell me more about your standards b/c i don't think you're in the position for that just yet.
