Berlin is such a fun underrated city. It’s like if DC was hip.

Yeah, no. It's 1.4% and lower than average because if they can find any other underlying illness to blame it on then Covid is not listed as the cause of death. The Italians (12.3%) do the opposite, everybody who dies and has Covid is listed as a death due to the virus.

that's not what Germans have done so there's something weird going on or they have done a fantastic job.

Or there's a genetic factor in place.

Germany's approach has reportedly been different from almost every other country due to a couple of factors:

1) Widespread early free testing in volume + isolation of cases early on

2) they reportedly have a very high per capita ratio of hospital beds/necessary ICU equipment

Those two things seem to be the main contributing factors to low death rate.

However, their is speculation that death would be slightly higher if they were counting deaths with contributing factors the same as Italy and Spain.

Dude, less than 24 hours ago he didn't even realize what he was saying when questions came at him about the PPE bidding war. He's embarrassed and incompetent. This is a reaction, not an Alpha move.

frick Germany. If they want masks so bad, order them from a German company. If they want them from a US company, they need to get the frick in line because we're going to get our first.

My father actually deals with logistics for these masks around the world. Their are a ton of problems getting these masks into the country.. Last week the government seized 3 million of them bound for Louisiana and is keeping them for their stock pile.

Germany is very interesting at this point (Pretty sure their death rate is only .05%) . Their data stands out in its difference with data from other countries. I’m hoping their numbers are close to the truth when the retrospective studies dig into the pandemic. It wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Maybe Hitler was unto something. Germans were the superior race after all

3M is one of the largest companies in the world. They operate plants all over the world in essentially every market there is.
3M had ramped up production significantly at all plants where masks and other PPE is manufactured. The DPA was not enacted against 3M until yesterday. The shipment that was intercepted today was most likely legally placed on the open market through usual channels, legally paid for, and legally set to ship prior to the DPA announcement.
The Germans have a legitimate beef against what happened. It is a mess all around, and was handled poorly as a face saving measure by President Trump.

Trump might want to be careful. Germany makes tons of our laboratory equipment.

Pretty much anything Eppendorf, Tuttnauer, and Thermo Fisher is made in Germany. PCR machines, centrifuges, autoclaves, etc. In my labs, 75% of the equipment is made in Germany.

Seems like overreach by the federal government here preventing an American company from selling to whatever entity they feel is in their best interest. Not very conservative, yet a lot of you who would call yourselves that seem to be championing this move. The slope is getting mighty slippery with this pandemic.

That said, 3M was facing some of the most uncertain times in its history prior to the pandemic. They aren't exactly on the top of the list of many governmental bodies, and it has become the "in" thing to shite on 3M. Any positive PR they can gain at this time would do wonders for them.

It is. Considering this order was placed before the DPA was enacted in relation to 3M.

Germans are pretty fricking good at counting deaths.

If it were an Olympic sport, they’d be like the US in Men’s Basketball.
