I like Florida but you couldn’t pay me to live in Gainesville.

Mississippi has an historic coast, beautiful barrier islands, and a taste of Appalachia in the northeast foothills. So there's plenty of nice countryside and outdoor stuff.
Mississippi's problem is it's elected officials, Jackson residents, and Madison residents. Forget the delta. Jackson LOVES poverty, but cries about suffering on TV. Read the city/metro section of the Clarion Ledger, or watch the local news for a week and you'll begin to get the picture.
Madison residents don't want economic growth because it brings about change, whether it's traffic related or buildings too tall the residents don't feel comfortable living around them. Ridgeland offers more than Madison in terms of places to go. Those people are kind of like people with NYC borough syndrome. Nothing else exits around them.
You have to live here to understand the each situation.

Well I’m about 30 years away from considering retirement, so we’ll see what it looks like then

There is nothing about this that is remotely accurate about NWA

But everyone on the OT has assured me that Georgia is a shithole.
This is a great state, FWIW

Because if you did, you'd see how bad Louisiana is compared to the rest of the country.
I can always tell when I’m back in Louisiana based on the amount of trash on i10.

Not sure why Arkansas and MO are getting so much hate the Ozarks are amazing. I'm moving there this winter from Dallas
I guess it truly is the last great secret in this country.

Agreed or one of them. I have a lot of family up in the Missouri area of the Ozarks. I love it up there.

NW Arkansas is a lot like East TN... really nice areas despite the high percentage of white trash hillbilly rednecks.

It literally spawned Walmart lol. That’s all I need to know about it.

Also JB Hunt and Tyson amazingly. You don't think having 3 of the largest multinationals in the world is a good economic base for an up and coming area?

Also, the corruption in alabama is horrible. They have more jailed governors than we do
The difference is that Alabama jailed those governors while they continue to stay in office in Louisiana.

Why is alabama more liveable than Louisiana?
Because Louisiana.

This is the thread where LA folks try to convince themselves it's not that bad there. Outside of food and fishing it's the bottom.
Agreed. My food is just as good and the fishing is better in Texas. The best things to ever come out of Louisiana are interstates 10 and 20.

Can we get a definition of what livability means?
I can shoot in my yard, fire off fireworks whenever I want, driving a dirt bike down the road, and stare at mountains all day
And I pay significantly less in taxes and government mandated fees every year
This immediately makes life very livable
Please absolutely no one ever come to eastern kentucky and leave me alone
