Actually thought about this yesterday.
I lost my 3 year old daughter 2 months ago today
I'm 42.
If I live 30 more years, when I pass and get to see my daughter again, what will she look like? Will she still be 3 or 33?
Will I be 72 or 42 to her?
If she's 33, will I be able to see her somehow at different ages as she aged from 3 to 33?

I just really miss her

Dangit, so sorry man. Life isn't fair.

According to one religion, and depending on whether you go out in style, …you might have 72.

My wife and I have been incomplete since and we would have to go the surrogacy route if we were to ever have another child and we’ve been contemplating it heavily recently.

Not to derail the thread but...
After multiple miscarriages and having twins stillborn at 33 weeks, our reproductive endocrinologist suggested the surrogacy route to my wife and I. After a lot of thought and prayer we went that route. Our RE put us in touch with an agency that matched us with an amazing couple. If it wasn't for them we wouldn't have our son or our daughter.

I will say it isn't for everyone. It is ridiculously expensive. You have to decide what relationship you want, if any, you want with the carrier after the birth. The contracts are super detailed and, if you become friends with the carrier, enforcing some of the what-ifs in the contract can get sticky.

I do wonder what our twins will be like when we get to Heaven with them

I think you’re a spirit, not really a certain age.

Jesus in Matthew 22:30 actually answers this question.

“At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.”

It was an attempt by the Sadducees to catch Jesus in a gotcha moment. His answer turned their question back on them but if asked in good faith it's a legitimate thing to wonder about. I've heard it explained that all relationships will be deeper and more fulfilling than we can imagine, but nobody really knows.

My late SO lost her high school boyfriend In a motorcycle accident when they were both 16. High school romances rarely survive the first year of college, but he was her first love and she never forgot him. She still talked about him sometimes. It has occurred to me that maybe they're having a grand time up there and I'll be the odd man out when I arrive.

Maybe, maybe not. I take the Billy Graham position on this:

“God will prepare everything for our perfect happiness in heaven, and if it takes my dog being there, I believe he'll be there”

John Wesley, founder of Methodism, believed his faithful horse would be there.

Random thought about Heaven - how old are you up there?

1. Probably not a Heaven so not much need to worry about it.

2. The concept of Heaven seems very boring. If there’s no sin or suffering or competition or disagreements or intimacy or emotions or confrontation at all up there, then you’re eliminating nearly all of what makes us human.

It’s kinda like this: SEC fans want their school to win every game in every sport every year, but if they actually did win every game in every sport every year, it would all get really boring really quick.

There’s a quote about mortality by Achilles in the movie Troy that I like: “The gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment might be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed. You will never be more beautiful than you are now. We will never be here again.”

Even the physical descriptions of heaven in the Bible, I don’t think are real descriptions. Take the “streets of gold” thing. I don’t think the Bible describes streets of gold to impress us or make us think of some Asgard like city from a marvel movie.

I think it was just a way to point out that gold, the universal symbol of value on earth, is gravel on the street in heaven in terms of what is important and has value.

Good stuff. I think we look at this the same way. I feel like the bible makes a lot of metaphors for things we just simply cannot comprehend.

There was just a movie where a WW2 widow remarried, lives with the guy 50 years or whatever, she dies and gets to heaven and both her husbands are up there like WTF.

Didn’t watch it because it looked like another retelling of the common modern trope where “woman finds loophole to be with two men without breaking any rules”, but it does pretty much play into your question.

Spoiler alert, it works out to everyone's happiness but she does have to make a choice.

I believe they do. There is scripture re animals being there and animals are better than humans. But if I’m wrong I guess I won’t care or remember bc I will be in the presence of God.

OP, I read that we won’t have connection to someone in Heaven, but will know them. Idk if that is true or if we will have close familiarity. Our purpose there is to worship God.

Do you feel better about yourself after taking time out of your day to post this in a thread about heaven?

You atheists are so insecure I truly feel sorry for you.
I will pray for you to one day finally know the love that is having Jesus in your life and the beautiful feeling of having faith and what it does to and for you.

Yeah tell me about it. Wife and I were thinking about it for a while before we blessed with two through ivf.
The numbers we found in Texas were $120-150k. We’re in Louisiana but you can’t do it here or couldn’t at the time. We were ready to spend it before surprise you’re pregnant and then having two beautiful babies back to back after years of infertility, miscarriages, etc.
happy it worked out for yall.

This is the OT, not a church.

There is a song by Cracker called "Can I Take My Gun to Heaven?" but I don't have the answer.
