Just googled it. Saw a source that it's only 2.4 miles away due to the partition of the Diomede Islands. Very cool.

Brownsville to somewhere in the Panhandle(I forget) is farther than that spot in the Panhandle to Canada

I live in the Panhandle - when I was in Cali, Colombia I was closer to home than when I visited my brother in San Diego.

Tristate, Tri-points or Triple points, aka trifiniums all mean the same thing. These are places where three States come together at a common point. Almost everyone is familiar with Four Comers in the southwestern U.S., where Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico meet at a spot in the Navajo Indian Reservation. However, not many people realize that there are sixty-one other spots where three States join. Of this total of sixty-two, thirty-eight either have markers or should have markers on land. The rest are in the middle of rivers, streams or lakes where no identifying marker can be placed.

I got two of 'em last year: TX/LA/AR and AL/GA/TN.

Mmm, not actually correct, if you're referring to pretty much every city in AK. Anchorage, Fairbanks, Nome, Juneau, are all closer to NOLA by a long distance.

The world's deepest lake is Lake Baikal in eastern Russia. It is a freshwater lake that is 5,315 feet deep. Can you imagine a lake more than a whole mile deep?

Lake Baikal is so deep that it contains nearly 24% of all surface freshwater in the world, and more than all five North American Great Lakes combined.

West Virginia is the only state with 2 panhandles.
Only because they had a chronological incestual jump on Arkansas.

Expect Arky to have four or five panhandles soon.

They've been working overtime to narrow the gap.

Alright explain this one

Earth isn't actually round, but oval, with an inflated middle.

Although Ecuador's Mt. Chimborazo is only 20,564 feet in height, its equator location pushes it closer to the stars than Mt. Everest, at 29,035 feet.

*ETA: That is if you believe that the Earth is, in fact, round.

Probably already been covered. But it’s further from Beaumont to El Paso than it is from Beaumont to Jacksonville and El Paso to Los Angeles.

There are at least 100 uncontacted tribes of people around the world that have no idea outside modern society exists, aside from aircraft flyovers. The vast majority are in the remote Amazon Rainforest but there are also tribes in Africa and India.
