Honestly, I got burnt out on it well before I moved away. Haven't missed it since I left. I'm much more about coming back to visit for things like French Quarter Fest or football games.

This is a topic I never bring up because people get so bent out of shape if you don't agree that MG is awesome. Someone can ask about MG and you can say something as passive as, "It's not really my thing" and they will lose their minds 9/10. It's very weird. Point being, the door swings both ways. Pretty big difference between saying it's not really your thing vs you hate it and think it's the trashiest thing ever.
Compared to the way I experience mardi gras vs the other public events in this inbred state, I think mardi gras is ok.

I'm not the OP. I'm just saying my experience with this topic is very negative regardless of how you present your opinion. You can see in the other threads. Responses like GFY and you must be miserable and what a p_ssy. Just really unnecessarily extreme for disliking a regional holiday.

I like Thoth Sunday on Magazine Street. Friends, couple of beers, no crazy college kids like downtown. Mardi Gras day, usually go fishing.
