I'm with you. Mardi Gras brings out the trashiest of people. Especially up here in Shreveport.

I can see how people that live outside the city can dislike it. They have to pay for hotel rooms, shack up with friends, drive in and out fighting traffic, eat out for every meal, have to fight for spots, etc. However, living here makes it much easier.

Used to be able to go skiing every year. Now work for a company who doesn’t even recognize the holiday so can’t even run away from it anymore

Popeyes is too busy to close on Mardi Gras day.

I'm guessing you don't need help bringing out trashy people for any public gathering.

Yeah lets not hide it. Pretty much every public parade or festival, etc in this state will have a ton of trash.
We are still better than Mississippi though, so lets be proud.

I agree. But, this has happened to me in real life. Not as extreme as the internet responses but people definitely like I kicked their puppy.

I loved Mardi Gras as a kid. My family and about 3 sets of cousins would meet up at my Aunts house in Metarie for the weekend and we would go to a few parades and explore.

Now it's kinda meh. None of my Kids have any cousins their age and they've expressed zero interest in going to any parades the last few years. I don't even get the day off like my old man did anyway (I could take it off if I wanted but there is no point)

I can definitely see why certain personalities wouldn't enjoy Mardi Gras, doesn't really affect me so I don't care

Yep.

The only reason I go is that the kids seem to like it. I'm starting to wonder if the kids only like it because they think everyone else is having a good time so things must be fun.

Once the they outgrow it then I won't have any reason to go to those awful things.

It's horrible, and I just laugh a protestants that participate.

I love Mardi Gras and as a Catholic I agree that Protestant should have nothing to do with Mardi Gras.
