The confederacy and its flags have turned into culture war stand ins for white guys from the red states. They can't attack *you* yet so they're settling for flags and statues.
The modern liberal seems to hate the CSA more than the guys who actually fought against it. I feel like so much of what's going on today is the punishment/revenge that a lot of the white southerners supposedly escaped from immediately after the war being inflicted on southern whites today.

As a long time diehard NASCAR fan, I can tell you most fans don’t really give a shite about this
Sure, they might rather the flag be allowed but they don’t really care that much
Also NASCAR is not “dying”, it’s just resizing to be more like the regional sport it was in the 80s/early 90s. It will be fine and these things are cyclical
And FTR, I wish the flag would be allowed but whatever. At this point it was just gonna cause the Sport issues

I'm guessing three things about the author:
1. He's probably never been to the South, other than to Florida.
2. He calls out others for being racist using a Confederate flag, yet he has burned an American flag in some display of anger.
