Is that why you have a different job every 6 months or so?

Usually 2-3 years. When it gets boring, move on.

I'll never have an issue finding a decent job, and I'll do what I enjoy doing.

Im an older millennial, and i get it. Work/life balance. Makes no sense to go above and beyond and put in more hours than is needed.

I can understand it, too. Companies used to somewhat give a shite, now they will quickly dump people regardless of tenure, value to the company or impact to the company.

Sometimes this creates a domino effect , and people realize a company says they value employees, it it’s all horse shite.

The first two years of my new job, I looked for everything I could possibly do outside of my day-to-day job description to go above and beyond. Many Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon were spent working on things because there was no time to do it during regular work hours.

Come employee review time, what score do I get? 3 out of 5.

I then get to watch my boss get a promotion. My co-worker, who works the least of anyone on the team who is buddies with the boss, gets a promotion to the same level as me.

I'm not naïve enough to expect a promotion or raise every single year, but I do expect recognition and acknowledgement for the work that I have done as well as a visible track record of great performance.

I realized two things though. Employee reviews are bullshite. They are used as documented evidence as to why you didn't get that raise or why you got laid off, but you can't expect to get too many above average reviews because then it would look like the company owes you a raise.

Secondly, it's not about how much work that you do. It's about what you do. It's about working smartly. I still feel like everything I did had value to the position I was in and should have mattered to my boss, but because nothing I did raised revenue and his primary concern was raising revenue (because that was his boss's primary concern, etc), or make his job easier, it just wasn't anything he cared about.

I say all that to say yes, I very much identify with and understand this mentality, but by all means, do it while you're looking for opportunities elsewhere.

There's crossing the line once in a while and then there's losing your family due to a lack of self control and personal responsibility. Everyone in this thread is aware which side of the line you fall under.

Did you just admit you quietly quit your job every two to three years?

Yep. One of the great things about a place like this, it doesn't matter. All you need is a decent reputation and know the right people.

It’s been quite a journey. Mostly just people bitching at each other and now we have Rog telling us how awesome it is to be a washed up drunk.

Thats when you (grown up, not zoomer) quit, give your two weeks and find something that suits you better.

That'll suck your soul dry.

So, Mr. Grown Up, are you going to pay my bills while I spend, potentially, months trying to find another job? I have a side gig, but that's not enough to pay for my rent, water, electricity, food, etc..

I'm looking for a new job currently, but I can't just snap my fingers and have a new job appear that I'm qualified to do at a livable salary.

You should have jumped when the market was hot. Everyone was hiring. It was a great chance for people to give themselves a raise.

Just buy some land with the money from your side hustle and build your own house. YouTube is free and can teach you everything you need to know.

Lazy entitled millennials.

I'd be curious to see this trend over generations. The average age for a CEO today is 57. Can't really find anything on that data 50 years ago, or figures showing percent of CEOs under 40 back then and now.

Many put up by Millennials who are making a living teaching a usable skill, which gives them freedom from having to "quiet quit" a soul sucking job.

When millennials finally take over you will see the 4-10s with 3 days off become the new normal.

So they invented a neagtive term for showing up and doing your job? I didn't realize doing the duties expected of you was a bad thing now.

ETA Didnt notice this thread was already over 60 pages

I agree on that side. There are 100x more options for making money now then back in the day. Logistics, supply chains, and production are available to anyone with Internet.
