Gee golly, I just grabbed my lunch pail, pulled up my bootstraps and put my nose to the grindstone and pointed out your hypocrisy all on my own.

How many boomer bucks does that get me on my next mortgage payment?

Recessions only happen when there are too many not real men who don't pick them up by the boot straps.

Not surprising that happened in 08 when a bunch of pussy Millennials were to busy eating avocado toast to get real jobs

Hardly. I can tell you for a fricking fact that I don't promote the shitty workers. I'm sorry you had terrible experiences, but when you say shite like that, it's clear you are just making things up or thinking of your particular situation.

So I’ve worked since I was 14. The following has been consistent at almost every job I’ve been at (sans my current where I’m contract in a cohort, so I get to essentially be my own boss):

- Especially when I was younger, I was taken advantage of because I worked hard without demanding compensation for it. And in jobs like education you basically get shamed if you don’t.

- I routinely saw shitty workers promoted because their Dad worked at the Board of Education, they hit a quota, or because someone wanted to get them out of a position that was more dependent upon straight up work, etc. That type of thing isn’t rare. Sadly, it’s not uncommon at all.

Reality is, I watched my Dad give 40+ years to the railroad and put everything but work on the back burner because of the mentality that no matter what you give over and above to get ahead. Watched him put off vacations, time with my Mom, his physical health (this one in particular), and his mental health. Just to brag he could count the number of days he took off on two hands in 40 years. He put it all off on retirement.

Know what that got him? Sitting in a house alone, my Mom passed two years ago (3 after he retired), and unable to travel extensively because of his health.

frick. All. That.

No doubt, the two posters in this thread complaining the most have over a half million posts between them.

I'll say this again: I own my own company. I was never cut out for corporate culture. My arguments in no way apply to me.

None. Zero. That’s not valuable. Find something that is.

This is precisely where we differ.

That's reality. It's all about who you know and you you blow. Yes, you can get promoted if you work hard. You can also not get promoted for working hard. It's a crapshoot. I don't trust the company to do a thing they say because they lie constantly.

You said it was in your prior post. You respected it.

Now you're pulling the rug and expect me to just accept it.

What are you talking about? This isn't a conspiracy. It's just facts. Old people don't work, they don't buy things, they're on fixed incomes, they don't invest in companies. When most of the world has more old people than young people, how do you make that work? A consumption based economy doesn't work in that scenario.

What in the actually frick are you talking about?

Old people consume healthcare and travel.

Consumer goods? Parents with small kids.

Isn't that great. They consume the largest part of a failing system that survives only by massive government spending.

Which I paid FAR more for than I will ever get out of it.

So frick you. I’m way farther in the red on that than you will ever be.

And there won't be enough workers to pay into the ponzi scheme longterm.

this is demographis 101. people 60/65+ do not spend enough money at a macro level to support an economy. they also are either looking to or have already retired so their value added to an economy is minimal

they arent worthless obviously. but they arent something you build your society on. this isnt controversial. this is well acknowledged and understood

Probably not to the government.

You don't get how economics works, that's OK. It's complicated and you have to study it for years to just get the basic principles.

So you should just shut the hell up. It's ok to not know everything but looking like a total dumbass should embarrass you.
