I workout everyday so I can drink. I think about a cold beer everyday, there’s nothing more I love than sitting at a bar, talking with friends. I limit myself and hold back, but I contentiously have to think about not drinking.

I drank a lot in college. I quit shortly after graduation. Now it doesn't appeal to me at all. One beer gets ves me a headache. Just not worth it.

It’s expensive.
I have reflux.
I’m on blood thinner.
I did have a beer with pizza Saturday, but I don’t buy alcohol routinely.
I don’t “need” it to have fun.
I don’t need the calories.
It does not make me smarter, richer, or thinner.
Alcohol is sort of an occasional thing for me. Every now and then I’ll have a beer or wine.

I never really took up drinking. Luckily for me, I didn't care for the taste of either beer or alcohol. Has probably saved me a lot of money over the years ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I quit in my 30s when the hangovers got worse. My body just doesn't appreciate being poisoned.
Throw in dealing with an alcoholic, and that put the final nail in the coffin.
I realized that you don't need intoxicants to have fun and excitement in your life.

I finally admitted I was on a very destructive path that was very negatively affecting my relationships with everyone in my life.
I was an awful bitch to those I cared about while drinking. Like I'm surprised I wasn't fully cut off by most of them. I was walking a very fine line. Everyone except for me knew I had a problem with alcohol and they were all reaching their breaking point.
An event happened a few weeks ago that nearly cost me my family and the life we built together and I realized I needed to stop for good.
I just simply can't casually drink like a normal person. Alcohol had complete control and I was all in after that first sip. I tried for 15+ years to drink in moderation. I quit countless times that only lasted a day or two before the cravings took over again. That's not normal. Luckily I never did drugs, because I knew I'd like them, or who knows where I'd be now, if I was even alive.
Still freshly sober but nearing 3 weeks. Oddly I'm enjoying it and it hasn't been difficult so far. But I'm building a support system and learning tools now to help when the cravings start again, which I know will happen. If it was always easy people wouldn't relapse, even after decades of sobriety.
Taking it one day at a time, but I can already see why people enjoy sober living.

Drink all the time in high school and college. Kept on drinking a couple of times a week until I got into my early 30s and started having kids. I am 53 now and only drink when I am planted somewhere on an outing with customers like golf, hunting, fishing, concert, ball game, etc..I drink 4 or more beers at a time maybe twice a month. I have all kind of leftover beer from outings and just give it away when I can. I have no desire to drink at home on the regular.

I drank heavily in college. I don’t see the point of drinking a beer or alcohol for the taste. If I drink I like to get drunk otherwise it’s just empty calories

Classical conditioning. Associating illness with drinking, every drop I now drink makes my stomachs ache badly.

I used to enjoy drinking. Now I get migraines after 1-2 drinks 70% of the time. It isn’t worth the risk anymore.

Grew up in family of alcoholic and violence, they owned bars, pkg liquor store..family members died from gun shots, suicide and drunken accidents.. Saw the extreme damage alcohol could lead to..

I just never started. Now that I have daughters, that makes it all the easier not to get into it. I want to set a good example.

Was never a heavy or frequent drinker.
Stopped, except maybe a beer once year at crawfish boil, years ago.
Saw close family destroyed by alcohol.

I quit to lose weight and to avoid getting a DWI and killing or injuring anyone. It was a great decision and I have more money now because of not buying it and I have tons more energy. I drank from 18 years old to 58. Been sober for 17 months now and I intend to never drink again. Drinking is a part of life, but it's not a part of "my" life. The media advertising on TV the glorious days of laughing with friends while drinking is quite the sight and has the masses fooled. Everyone drinks..... right? Wrong.

I know myself....if I ever start I will go full tilt. Therefore I never started....late 40s now and never had a sip, ever. And I am around it quite a bit.

I quit daily beer habit about 16 months ago. Multiple reasons why, mainly to show my children there’s a better way than what I witnessed as a kid. And I realized that I’d drank for over half my life and that seemed embarrassing and dumb to me, and a waste. Lost some weight.

I drank, mostly on weekends, for 25 years. It’s not fun for me anymore.
