What happens if you are selected for jury duty, and it happens to be a long trial? Do you become destitute in honor of public service, bc you are missing valuable days of work? Or does your company still pay you?

No

Let's say hypothetically it's a drawn out, high profile murder trial.

This is why smart people do everything possible to not get picked for jury duty. It’s sad that our judicial system encourages the stupidest people to be placed on a jury, and that our system hurts our own professions to do our civic duty

They can't fire you but generally don't get paid.

The $11 they make for a day of jury duty probably covers their salary anyways

This is why it’s beneficial as a young man to get convicted of a minor felony. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Smart people Have jobs where they get paid if they’re on jury duty.

Company pays, sometimes they ask for your jury duty check in exchange. Not exactly sure how that works.
We also get paid for any overtime we would have been due.

Naw..all you have to do is talk like an a-hole and they won't pick you.
I remember being asked what do you think of the court environment. " it's nothing but a two team game, no one cares for the truth, it's only about the win, the parish only wins when people lose, it's a farce"
I got dropped

Yep, when the defense attorney asks everyone if you've ever read about someone getting arrested and immediately thought they were guilty, tell them hell yeah!
Posted on 10/25/17 at 7:50 pm to indytiger
It would be extremely hard for me to vote guilty

How does it hurt? Your civic duty shouldn't come with a price tag.

We would get paid for 1 day by our company and whatever you get from the court for being on a jury.

Depends on the company. When I was out for week for JD, I was paid for the whole week.
