We are hopefully gonna get a positive pregnancy test next week.

Regarding kids and getting sick.

Is it true they are either ...

Sick all the time as a baby/toddler?
Or
Sick all the time once start school?

Is it true they are either one or the other?

You're getting ahead of yourself but they'll get ear infections wenever wherever but the other sicknesses are generally passed when they are in close contact with other rug rats who are slobberin and snottin all over every shared toy or surface

First child went to day care .. he was sick due to ear infections. Tubes solved that and no real other issues. Bottled fed.

Second kid didn't go to sitter until 18 months old .. not a sick kid at all. Breast fed for 8 or so weeks and then bottle.

Third child went to in home sitter part time at 6 months — exclusively breastfed and wasn’t a sick kid at all.

They did get viruses when those went around but not much more than that.

They aren’t sick all the time. They all get a stomach virus at some time when they go off to school. Most kids have to go through it to build immunity. And it will likely spread through your family. Both of my kids brought home 2 stomach viruses in their first 2 years of school.

It’s supposed to be a trade off. You can put them into daycare and they will be sick every week with a constant runny nose for about a year. The tradeoff is that it’s supposed to build their immune system up and that won’t happen once they start real school.

We finally had to pull our son out of daycare because he was literally sick every single week he was there. And as good parents, we held him out until he was free and clear from his sickness. Other parents clearly weren’t doing that because he wasn’t getting sick from healthy kids around him. And his sicknesses were getting worse (regular sickness, then HFM, then RSV). So we pulled him and his personality blossomed because he finally wasn’t feeling like shite all the time.

You’re going to be sick more than them

Stop thinking. You’re going to make yourself crazy. I have 5. Some went strictly to daycare, some not. Some were breast fed some were not. They were all sick to some degree. There’s no be all approach.

My 2 rarely get sick. They both got covid, we all got it, took my wife out over a week, took me out nearly 2 weeks, took the youngest out MAYBE 48 hours and the 14yo maybe 4 days. I can't recall the last time they were sick before that.

It’ll be different for everyone. With our first kid she was always just fine. We started her in daycare at 2 and we were sick all the time but she was fine. Our second kid has coughed and sneezed non stop for the last year. We are fine this time. Everyone else we talk with has different experiences.

Get a thermometer
Get tiny cold tablets
Get gripe water
Get baby gas drops
Get paper towels
Get bourbon
Get ready not to sleep

You’ll be fine. Plenty of fricktards raise kids.

Prepare yourself to get sick a lot when they start kindergarten. Kids are disgusting germ factories who bring home everything from school. They won’t get sick bc their immune system is hardy from spending days surrounded by snot covered crayons but they will carry all the viruses home to you and your wife who aren’t as prepared. You will be solid by 2nd grade though. Good luck with the hand, foot and mouth disease.

Same as adults. Some are sick all the time, some aren't. Outside of allergies, my 8 year old has had nothing.

Mine were sick while in daycare and we usually got it too. Seems to stop in early elementary or so and they are very rarely sick now. They get exposed to everything. Tubes helped with the frequent ear infections.

This is how my experience was with mine. He was sick constantly for close to a year, and now it’s pretty rare to get sick. That was a rough year though, glad to be through it.

So your wife doesn’t even know if she’s pregnant or not and you’re worried about a star in the sky instead of the well being of your possibly soon to be pregnant wife?
