Would never tell our kids that having children is overrated, because it's not.
Every day is a new adventure and Having kids is better than any video game.
Watching them grow up before your eyes is something one must experience for themselves. Hard to explain but I would not a change a single thing.

yeah, he never said that and never would.
He told you that when he offered to pay for a vasectomy at 18 YEARS OLD. He just didn't say it in so many words. That's kind of a fricked up proposition.

I want kids one day but I cant imagine the stress involved. Especially in todays world

Could not imagine life without my two sons. Incredible young men. Truly blessed.

OK, let me rephrase. I'll never act or speak in a way that lets my children get the impression that I would have preferred not to have them.

Why cherry pick? I said and freeze the kids. you do know thats possible right? Its not a fricked up proposition in my eyes. Its him looking out for me really. I could still have kids, just not have surprises.
ETA: I declined because im not a frickin idiot. My brother on the other hand...

There are less extreme ways to plan for kids.

Being a Dad is what I was born to do. I love every aspect of it. Patience is a virtue. I learned to take I easy and let my kids experience life.

Having children. Specifically male children that survive to produce viable offspring, is the biological imperative of any species. Any being that doesn't do that is technically a Biological failure.
That being said, the human aspect of raising well adjusted kids is incredibly rewarding. I love mine to death. They are silly and fun and I wouldn't trade anything for them.

vasectomies are awesome.... had my two, a girl and a boy, and promptly got that shite done.... worst part was bringing the "sample" back for the lab to see if i was sterile or not...

Oddly enough I was his first and I was the mistake, yet we are super close.
he definitely does not regret us.
You're delusional if you think he doesn't regret having kids if he told you to get a vasectomy at 18. If he says he doesn't regret it he's lying to you.
He damn sure doesn't want any grandchildren.
I've raised 2 good kids, and I'd never tell my kids, hint to my kids, ANYTHING which would tell them that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed being a father and want them to experience the joys, and pains of being good parents.
Being a dad is the best thing on this earth. The thing is, being a dad is a very different thing from being a father.
A father is just the sperm donor part. A dad is the part that encompasses everything else worthwhile.
I suspect if you ever did have any kids, your father will have as little to do with them as possible. If that happens, enjoy your time with your wife....just kidding, your wife will ensure you won't enjoy ANY of that experience.

Yes, nothing says romance and love like unnecessary test tube babies.

I think your mom pulled the ol' pregnancy trap on your dad. Your dad probably had other plans but at least he stuck around.

All I will say is youre delusional if you think you know better than I how my dad feels. Hes been a great father and we have a great relationship. Like I said we are best friends.

I think regretting your son is something you take to the grave.
I do not regret him, but if I did I would lie right to his face if he asked.
OP we are not women. It takes time. It did for me. There was not that immediate bond, but I did not carry him. Having him was a holy shite moment. But now he keeps me young or at least striving to be young.

I would be mortified if my father said anything remotely similar to what yours has suggested. Mortified and sad.
