Question about tolls in Florida

Do I still need to pay them in Florida? I mean if they no longer accept cash and you don’t have the windshield pass you can still just keep on driving? Is Florida just using license plate readers? So all I need to do is get a tinted cover on my license plate? If I get toll bill in the mail do I have to pay it? I know in New Orleans the camera tickets payment is optional.
Just wondering how do I pay my toll in Florida without a SunPass.

It's not a red light camera ticket, it is a toll.
You will get a bill in the mail, just pay it like an adult and go on with your life.
Unlike a red light ticket, this won't go away.

Yes baw I just got my bill in the mail.
I also got pulled over before bc they knew my registration was out of date & would not be able to mail the bill to correct address

My son lives in The Colony. I get toll bills from TX all the time. I finally got a sticker because I'd forget to pay and the late fees are ridiculous. Just pay the $4.76 like an adult.

Correct. But the annoying thing is that you get charged extra for not paying at the time. I’m an adult and am willing to pay a toll even if I’m not happy about it. But give me a way to pay at the time. It’s all a scam.

They're going to mail you a bill or if you were in a rental they'll email you for it. Just pay it. It's not worth the hassle.

drive through, they send a bill in the mail....its cheap af, a couple dollars. why would you go through the trouble of putting a tinted cover on your LP or not pay it?
how trashy of a BAW are you?

They don’t want you using the toll roads if collecting will be annoying for them. And cash is annoying for them. I know Texas will allow you to go online and search by your plate number and pay without crazy fees. I assume Florida is similar.

Yeah I understand. Hey it’s a better deal than the Causeway Bridge I guess.

I went to Florida in college with a girlfriend in her car. I was driving. I went through the pass through on tolls a few times thinking "they won't catch us". I didn't learn until later that they can send some hefty fines.
We broke up shortly after the trip and I still think about the bills she must've gotten in the mail. She never brought it up though.

From my experience, it take about 4 weeks to get the bill in the mail. I recently went thru toll on I-35 in Kansas and it took 4 weeks for bill to arrive in the mail. I promptly paid it online.

What if I was driving a rental car?

Why would you want to use a toll road or bridge and not pay for it? I don't understand your logic here.

I would recommend that you do. If you ignore the toll invoices, they can upgrade it to a traffic ticket and then if you don't handle the ticket or show up to court, they can issue a warrant.
Louisiana and Florida also have reciprocity agreements. So your unpaid traffic fines in Florida can be reported to the Louisiana DMV and end up causing LA to flag your license and registration.
quote:Just sign up for the Sunpass account. There's a toll-by-plate account option where you don't have to buy the windshield transponder. Otherwise, just go online and pay the toll invoice when they mail it to you.

Florida uses license plate readers and they will send a bill to your registration’s address. If you dont pay them you won’t be able to renew your sticker.

Toll invoice gets sent to the rental car agency. Since the toll invoices are itemized to show the date and time for each charge on the invoice, the rental car agency will be able to tell who was renting the car at that time and charge you for it.

Well they don’t give you any way to pay, then they penalize you for not paying at the time. As I said before, it’s a scam.
