on Feb 25 (Mardi Gras) there were only 14 confirmed cases in the United States, none of which near Louisiana. despite that many more people certainly had it and 1.4 million people from all over the world came to NOLA, the virus started spreading rapidly, and it wasn't until several weeks later we actually started ramping up testing and realized the scope of infections. there was zero reason for Mardi Gras to be canceled based on what was known at the time, so no one to blame I guess.

Oh it was definitely in the news. I was down for MG snd was paying attention to it. Honestly though, it never occurred to me that it was in NO at that time or that it was that contagious. I was wrong.

Its been here for a while. Which is why I get a kick out of people gasping at the increase in more cases. No shite more people will be positive when we have more testing and are looking for it

Its not real until there are official numbers. If someone gets on TV and says "there is probably a lot of cases" how much credit would you give him?
If a doctor gets on TV and says "there are x amount of reported cases" then you know for a fact it is at least that many.

New Orleans is an international destination city. It’s very unique and there are people from all over the world there every week. This isn’t Lafayette or Omaha. It’s a unique culture that’s recognized around the world.

This wave was roaring for a while and life went on for everyone as usual. This pandemic is predominantly just making numbers for sake of numbers. Resume life and get a shite ton of ventilators.

There are hospitals already being at capacity. Imagine if we went on with life as usual. There would be a lot more people needing to be hospitalized.
Also, production of ventilators, mask, etc is already at its limit.
