What is the cost on a 30kw or 38kw installed?
My gas lines & electrical is side by side.
Trying to figure out what the best option is & cost.
Any advice or guidance is much appreciated

I don’t understand your question, but my response as well as I can understand follows.
Get a recommendation from an electrician for your electrical load. Get a genset that can carry the full load for your home. And get a Kohler and not a Generac. Your Kohler will last for decades. Generac is crap.

I ordered mine off Home Depot’s website when the ran a holiday sale and then hired an electrician and plumber to come do it for me. Saved about 7k over the all in one install quotes I was getting.
ETA forgot to answer this part

Depends on what you need really. 38kW is a lot of juice. But oversizing will give you room to comfortably expand and won’t run as hard. For example, me and my neighbor have similar houses and ran the same time during Beryl. I have a 26kW and he has a 22kW. He spent about $80 more on his gas bill than I did for a week.

30KW should be very sufficient.

Be sure that your gas service line will carry that load….they may have to lay a larger service line which is likely to cost you something.

Here’s one thing I’d suggest. Figure out what your anticipated draw will be during a power outage. Add in a factor of safety so you’re not running at like 90 plus percent of capacity. When a storm hits and you’re living on the generator for 2 or 3 weeks, you don’t want to be riding on the margin of cutting out or be susceptible to low gas pressure and have the unit starve under load.

In 2022, my 20Kw Kohler generator.cost $13,000 installed. I have gas heat, hot water, and cooking, so 20 Kw was enough for the 5 ton A/C, lights, electronics, washer, dryer, etc.
I know this isn't a direct answer to your question, so I apologize, but maybe you can reasonably estimate your cost based on mine.
38 Kw sounds like quite a lot. Is this the size recommended by a salesman or electrician based on your 3 A/C's? And, might any gas heat, cooking, or hot water reduce your size needs?
The only potential drawback all of us face is if too many people in your neighborhood get a whole house unit, the supply line from your gas provider probably won't be large enough to supply everyone.
Good luck.

28kw with load management. Assuming you have gas furnaces and water heater.

I have this exactly and I have a 22KW
I can run everything together except my dryer.
38KW is way too much.

Generac is crap.
I used to tell people generac was a decent unit for sporadic power losses. Lately I've been hearing so many stories of them failing within a few hours or a day of a power outage.
What good is a standby gen if it won't even run for the 3 days a year you need it?

My folks just spent about $20K for a 26KW Kohler with transfer switch, a 500 gallon propane tank, 500 gallons propane, and installation costs (plumbing/ electrical).
The price doubles from 26kw to 30kw. It is not worth the extra KW, IMO, just manage your loads unless you are frequently living off the genset.

In 2023 I had a 28kw installed for $13,000

I had a 1998 Generac 7KW portable that served it's time.
I would not touch a Generac standby today. Several people I know had issues after Ida.
I chose to replace my Generac with a Champion Tri Fuel 9KW

I bought a 22kw Kohler last year 2300sqft home and it powers everything. I do have gas heat and hot water. $17,000 installed.
Price seemed high but I add the upgraded gas meter, soft start kit for A/C and a 12” high slab.

All I have is a small portable generator that can power my fridge, a box fan, and a table lamp.
These home generators are keeping up with the Joneses mentality.

You must have a big assed house...I've got 3000 sq. ft. under roof, fully electric up until the Generac was installed, and a 22KW powers my whole house fine. Once, for 9 days straight.

28kw or 30kw (max) Kohler for your setup would work perfectly. Expect it to be priced at $18 - $23k based upon your utilities already in the location you want.
