If my dog is chilling in the yard/driveway on my property, and the neighbor says ‘if I see that dog without a leash outside again’, and she says I’m calling the pound.

If my dog ( just a harmless 40lbs mix lab ) is on my property, I have a question regarding the pound showing up.

Am I not legally able to shoot that person? Because I will.

She can call the pound, and if she does, I will poison everyone of her cats.

There's your biggest issue. Don't have neighbors. Grab some acreage and commute into masses when you want to work and be around filth.

Kill her and put her body on her porch with a note on it.

The dog will get the message.

That’s my point though. The dog just lies on the driveway.

If the pound steps foot on my property, why can’t I shoot them legally?

Because I’m going to either way.

Does the pound really have the time and manpower to come get your dog? Would they even bother if they saw a collar with tags? Doubtful.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to shoot someone over a dog

If your neighbor was lying in your driveway, you would be free to call a government thug to remove them, if you so chose. Same thing when your dog is lying in someone else’s driveway.

Most leash laws require your dog to be confined in some way, even on your property. Either on a leash, or inside a fence.

Now, only a-hole neighbors would want to do what your neighbor wants to do.
I imagine if your neighbor is a woman, she has that awful short "I want to talk to the manager" hairstyle. If it is a guy, I imagine he is overwieight, wears too tight of shirts and has a crew cut

You have the right to shoot them because they warned you that they will call the pound if your dog continues to encroach their property. I would set up a camera and make sure your dog encroaches first before engaging, though. Make sure you CYA.

You're gonna come home to find it in your driveway with a note.

She is correct. Maybe a bitch but she’s correct. At least in East Baton Rouge Parish.

If you’re neighbor is the guy from last night, better hope it never leaves your property and growls or he’ll shoot it.

1) Because unless your yard is enclosed, you're breaking the law in the state of Louisiana.

RS 3:2771
No person shall suffer or permit any dog in his possession, or kept by him about his premises, to run at large on any unenclosed land, or trespass upon any enclosed or unenclosed lands of another.

2) Because that's murder.

Now that you've asked us, that's PREMEDITATED murder.

When they lock you up, they're gonna send animal control out and they're gonna put your dog down WAY before they put you down.

It is, actually. Just didn’t care enough to do more than skim the OP.

Now that I have, good luck claiming some absurd twist on the castle doctrine when you have a $250k bond.
