I finished up at LSU in 1999. I visited the campus for the first time since then earlier this year. I walked all around visiting old haunts. The place seemed really depressing for some reason.

In my days there I never felt unsafe; I lived and worked on campus. I wouldn’t venture out after dark now around there.

My oldest did not want to go away nor live on campus - so she goes to class at LSU and comes home - she doesn’t hang around or even eat on campus (unless she really has to)

My second oldest goes with her to her night classes bc he’s 6’1” 220 he’ll be there next year

My oldest son is there currently and lives near campus. My oldest daughter will be there next year. Watch your surroundings, think before you act, and be safe is what I tell them.

4 homicides away from breaking 100 this year. That could easily be achieved next week sometime or perhaps over this weekend.

Always be profiling in the city of peace.

No chance for survival, rape then robbed then murdered. Everywhere is better including Djibouti

(Idiots on OT talking about anywhere in their home state)

Worried about my daughter who is a freshman living in the dorm this year. Attempted robbery/shooting last week was just one block away from her dorm and the attempted kidnapping this week was in the dorm next to hers. I always say it is the same amount of crime as my day but just social media getting more info out so we hear about it more. Not so sure anymore.

All of them are high in crime.

The problem with the dorm situation is that the majority of the dorms on campus are 1-2 miles away from “the bottom” which could be argued as one of the most violent and deadly ghettos in the US. Thus, you have all the undesirables constantly stalking the campus area looking for opportunity to victimize and catch unsuspecting students “slippin”. There will always be a constant flow of tPOS traffic driving around the dorm area of LSU. It’s unfortunate and there’s no way to stop it.

Incidents such as a shooting a kidnapping and an attempted kidnapping during the first seven days of school is no cause for alarm?

There were 2 sexual assaults in the girls dorms at Tulane and Loyola in the first 2 days of school last week. Some guy followed the girls in the dorms.

If my Kids want to attend an SEC school, it’ll be Arkansas & it’s not even close. Good education & access to great outdoor activities are worth the trip alone.
I went to Tech, so Refineryville has never impressed as city with good quality of life. Big sports & party school atmosphere aren’t worth it

You better hope they get a scholarship because out of state tuition will be like 50k per year including housing.

36K. They've actually been growing significantly in enrollment since 2018, even through the pandemic.

Kind of impressive actually. It was about 28K when I was on campus and it felt crowded sometimes.

that's called holistic admission. not really that impressive.

But that’s NOLA - so that’s ok

There’s no crime in Baton Rouge, except for the Katrina evacuees
