No I'm not. I'm very familiar with the area having lived near there for 10 years. Broadway has no walls preventing a simple drive onto tulanes campus or a walk down freret onto Loyola's.
Well I’ve been here for 21 years and you’re wrong. You should come down and I’ll take you on a bike tour
Eta: btw we’re taking about the college dorms. Not the D2D’s

Hasn’t the population doubled since the 90s? More people = more incidents
Not at all in the city. The population is roughly the same as it was in 1980. The metro has grown but most violent crimes aren't happening in Central and Prairieville.

They are required by law to produce an Annual Crime Report. This report will have the last three years crimes that occurred on campus or within their control. Should be on their website. The trouble is the crimes that have to be reported don't have to have an arrest or conviction associated with it. There lies the opportunity to cook the books.

i never felt unsafe, but i was a 6'3 200lb male
I've been around tiger droppings for quite awhile. To this day the only people who mention height and weight are, miraculously, all 6'3 200+.

1980 it was probably pretty tame
It was. I was there in 1980 and the thought never crossed my mind that it may have been unsafe. And I lived in Tigerland for three years.

Just don't ever go anywhere alone especially if a woman and watch your surroundings, and you should be alright.

Generally good unless near Aster.

There’s good reason to worry, but when I was a student you had the home invasion and murders at the Edward Gay apartments. Those places and the houses around Alaska have always been shitholes.
Part of the issue is that every fight or “brawl” will be on social media. I’m sure the antics in Kirby Smith (RIP) weren’t exactly PG.

my, my how times have changed. They used to warn us about walking home drunk from Murpheys and going down Carlotta Street. That was the biggest threat we faced. That and Bud Richey or Kathy Marcel fricking up our parties.
Those fricking Three Blind Mice scum of the earth.

Roughly 450 people have been shot in EBRP this year, plus 96 killed. It’s all pretty well contained to NBR, with Gardere being an exception.

100% sure
I enjoy LSU for the best thing they provide - athletic entertainment. Education is not top priority, though.

My son chose to go to LA Tech over LSU. Ruston may not be much
Ruston has come a looong way from the Middle Ages when I was there. Good school and way safer location than BR or NO. Think a lot of parents are going to take that into consideration in the upcoming years when deciding on where to send their kids.

When I was at LSU, almost all females carried taser guns because Derrick Todd Lee was killing young females in the area.
The campus is way better than back then.
I was there during this time. There was a tense feeling around campus. I don't remember who was killed first, but it was really tense after the younger girl (who I think was a LSU student) and the older lady whose mom was pretty active in the news.
For some reason I want to say it was during summer school when one of them happened and everyone was on edge.

LSU really needs to upgrade on campus lighting to LED. Postgame, was walking after game by the Hill Memorial Library and Peabody lot and they have some old high pressure sodium yellow lights, that provide some terrible security lighting

Another ‘94 grad with a son at LSU—no concerns here.
Yes, El Cid was a sh1tehole, but it was my sh1tehole for a year cause the rent was right.

quote:Have they ever released any statistics on how well those kids did as opposed to normal admits?
So basically in its first year it was 400+ students admitted through this but the rules only allowed for 4% not the 7.5% so it should have been only 200 something admitted.
This was back in 2018 I believe so I don’t know the total number.
