Yeah I don’t recall that at all. I also don’t recall any Obama supporters being accosted simply for holding a HAG sign or wearing a HAG shirt.

The relevance is that it shows conservatives weren’t as incensed about a slogan as liberals seem to be now. You know, the central argument you were trying to make. Was that not obvious to you?

That wasn't, at all, the argument I was making.
My argument is that there is nothing inherently "good" about the slogan make American great again. It's not something "all Americans should support" or any such nonsense, even in a vacuum. Lots of Americans believe America has never ceased to be great, and so making it "great again" has no meaning. Plenty more believe America was never great to begin with, so again, it has no meaning. The only people MAGA would resonate with, if it weren't linked to Trump, were those who believe that America was great at some point in the past, but is no longer great, and they would like to return to that previous period of glory.
Was that not obvious to you?

No I wasn’t. But there’s a difference between a frequent gripe on a message board and all the instances we’ve seen in real life of people being accosted.

Exactly. I mean, the word "yes we can" aren't exactly wildly offensive on their own either. But printing that on your business card during the relevant time would have been incredibly stupid.
It isn't about the meaning of the words. It is that you are bringing your political views into your business and, depending on the job, a short-sighted thing to do. Especially since it sounds like the dude is in sales of some kind.

I’d say it’s a calculated risk. Gun stores, outdoor stores, stuff geared to a more conservative crowd...might help.

What about corporations like Nike, and Dick's, and Gillette and even entertainers oversharing their political opinions.
Is there any difference between choosing not to do business with the likes of them and someone choosing not to do business with a small business owner with Make America Great Again on his business card?
Many on here will take issue with those boycotts, yet say it's okay to not hire this guy.

It’s definitely dumb to put political slogans on a business card unless you’re business only services that segment of the populace.

Let me ask a simple question:
Let's say we get every single hardcore MAGA out there and ask them whether they believe the United States of America is currently a "great" nation. What percentage of them do you think would answer "yes, the United States of America is currently a great nation"?
