Put it in writing and talk to your boss. As fun as it sounds to go out guns blazing, it will haunt you at some point.

I would send an official email and cc HR, then go talk to the boss in person. I'd explain why you are leaving, thank them for the opportunity, and whatever BS you need to say.

As said, if you are not needed and you are leaving for a similar career they may tell you to leave immediately.

Also, I wouldn't put in my two weeks until you 100% have something else lined up. Not 99%, 100. Not having a pay check sucks even if you have savings.

I'll literally take anything just for the experience and go from there. I'd like to work at a Valero/Shell/Phillips 66/etc. but I'll take what I can get.

I've applied for internships at DOW, Chevron, and Phillips 66 and just waiting for a response.

And I'm trying to get an internship before I graduate. Been trying since summer and the only place I had success with wanted me to do 6 am- 6pm shifts which is fine but it was 2 hours away from my school and I wouldn't have been able to make it to class on time because my earliest class starts at 6:30 pm

But it's graduating from like ITT Tech or some shite. Not from a real university.

Congrats on the internship. We just shite canned an ops intern. Didn't follow instructions, late for work, thought hanging out inside socializing was the way to get hired on. Work hard, be punctual, help others you'll do fine.
