Our vet didnt require a physical, however he took care of our dogs for years and likely knew it was time as well.

In the grand scheme of things a physical isn’t that much money. If it’s time to put your dog down, put it down.

She is around 15. We don’t know exactly because she is rescue. She is blind, anxious, and losing control of her back legs.

I explained that.

Btw. This is the same vet who insists on quarterly heart worm testing.

That’s my decision. And if they are doing it for their own moral conscious, they should do it for free.

I’m from the country. I’ve raised animals all my life. I’ve euthanized animals the country way. This vet is criminally gouging.

Go to Petsmart or Petco or wherever they have one of those machines that makes pet tags. Make one with your dog’s name but a fictitious address. Take the dog to a shelter and say that you found a stray. They’ll handle it from there.

You might even pick up a new puppy while you are there. So simple.

I mean, why wouldn't a vet do that?

I know I wouldn't just kill animals at the whim of the owner without evidence I needed to if I were the vet.

Great bedside manner but how do you think they're supposed to pay for that big waterfall in the lobby?

So you’re judging an entire industry on the actions of an individual

Trust me on this.... if vets wanted to make their money by doing as little as possible..... they wouldn’t have become vets.

You have no idea what you’re talking about

It sounds cruel, but it's not. A big pile of hamburger out in her favorite spot in the yard and a .22 to the brainstem from behind is quick, painless, and the dog never knows anything's up

What if all I have is a shotgun. Is that still ok?

It gets the job done. It doesn't make a lick of difference to the dog, does it?

If vets were as rich as this board thinks I definitely wouldn’t be playing on TD at work. I’d be playing on TD from the couch.

definitely have the vet come to you. At the very least, the dog won't have the stress of going to a place it hates.

Absolutely the best thing to do.
