How many people were shot by the PD during this event? What need was there for a leader to shout "put those damned weapons down"?
Different situations, and I do believe the local authorities have done a fine job.
The folks claiming there were atrocities (supposedly perpetrated by you know what group) committed in the Superdome and other areas around the city were blaming the police for not doing ENOUGH to stop what was going on. Another inconvenient fact is that the majority of that crowd are of the same grouping as the folks in this case preaching that the cops always do too much.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't.
If Alton Sterling would have just capped that homeless man and just gone to jail for another few years, we wouldn't have been made to even blink at the story.

Again, I'll invite that publicity whore- yeah that's what Honore has become- to stand on the side of law enforcement in full view of the protesters knowing that the only thing between him and a rock, bullet, or angry agitator is his smile and good intentions.
Given what happened in Dallas and the credible threat that existed to police, Honore can suck a Sandanistan dick.

Most accurate statement.

So how did one cop lose a bunch of teeth?

He's a blowhard that plays it up for the camera. Can't stand the guy.

Well you see last week there was this incident in Dallas where 12 cops were shot and five died. I could be wrong but that probably made the police around here overly cautious.

So what are your thoughts on the Black Panthers marching and blocking the street with the protesters while armed with and displaying firearms?
Blocking the street? Arrest them.
Armed? Open carry my friend. No problem. If you're not okay with that, then you certainly cannot support rebel flag shirt wearing Billy Bob holstering a gun in wal-Mart.

Agree. I wonder what the sentences will be.
Obstructing a highway is a misdemeanor so probably just fines and community service.

You really should. I know what I am doing.

With that I agree.

They were arrested.
So you make an analogy that a person open carrying while minding their own business not breaking the law is the same as group of militants openly breaking the law while open carrying is the same thing?
You don't think that's a bad idea to blatantly break the law while armed? Many would consider it an open challenge to the police especially considering the police spoke with them and warned them they would be arrested if they blocked the roadway.
Additionally the presence of armed protestors should be plenty reason for the police to take every precaution.

I actually think they should have and they did a fine job. They did not agitate and made it clear they would allow protests within confines of the law.

Well damnit this no fun when you say something I agree with

I know a guy who was deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and served with the guard in NOLA after Katrina. He said NOLA was the worst in terms of him being shot at.
Honore was grandstanding, making it look like the guard was overreacting to the situation. They weren't.

Thoughts?
My thoughts are frick anyone who doesn't think it's justified.
Can anyone seriously blame police for protecting the city they live and work in from being burned to the ground? I'm thankful. I saw an officer in a restaurant tonight and told him thanks.

So the sign of a successful protest means no arrests?

Thoughts?
One was a humanitarian rescue mission, and the other is a protest/riot by BLM who has already burned down Ferguson and Baltimore.
Big time fail here bro.

Russel Honore could be one of the dumbest human beings alive. He can barely string two sentences together.
