I'm early for everything. I don't expect others to be quite like that but people that are habitually late annoy me.

Standard deviation of -2 minutes or so. I will never not show up before the other person at the meeting though. OCD as hell about that.

If you’re not 10 minutes early, your ten minutes late!

Wow, this varies so much. I usually get to class 45 minutes early but I can study and what not. Work I try to time it 5-10 minutes early to on time. If I am relieving someone then I make sure I am there in enough time so they can leave on time. Socially we base it on how our youngest is. If he is good and ready early, we go early. If he is a pain and late we might skip out or just be late. He is 8, non-verbal and a huge challenge. No use bringing him somewhere if he isn't ready or happy and if he is ready you better take you chance to get on the road.

Important shite? 10 of 10.
Not as important shite? Probably 8 or 9 out of 10.
My ex setting an arbitrary deadline to do some random shite like go to the grocery store? 3 ot of 10. And then only because I didn't want to hear her shite, not because I care when we go to Whole Foods on a Saturday afternoon.

So anytime you are caught in traffic for 10 minutes you're late? Nobody can estimate unpredictable variables perfectly.

6 maybe. But in most meetings I attend 15 minutes late seems to be acceptable. In my personal life, 20 minutes is acceptable and if your going to be later you text whoever you are meeting.

Why don't people just go with what words mean, set a time, and hold people to it?

8-9.
I’ve come to learn that physicians and vets are the worst at estimating time and it’s really annoying. “We’ll see you at X time.” 45 minutes later…

It depends on the setting/situation.

Having a special needs child or family member excludes you from the discussion. I think OP was asking about people who don't really have any valid excuse for their lack of punctuality.
