I can't remember if it was when we were dating or newly married but my wife said something like 'Do NOT ever get me flowers on Valentine's Day, let's just go to dinner instead. Not one of those overpriced fixed Valentine's dinners though'.

I also wondered if I should still get the flowers but turns out she was being honest. I've never bought them for Valentine's Day in the past 20 years and no issues. Women get stereotyped often, just like men (but we're all very different).

THIS. So much more important to her than the fact that you love her/care about her enough to buy her some flowers.

Pro Pro Tip: If you do this, you make DAMNED sure that hers are in the upper 75% of lavish and showy in her office. If you send her something and she's STILL on the bottom end of the women in her office, it'll be worse than if you sent nothing to her office and just saved it for later when nobody else is looking.

The anger and frustration is building up. Trust me.

Only one way to find out.

Luckily my wife would get pissed if I bought her flowers. She'd much rather I just wait until next week (or any other random day) when they're not a rip off.

I'm getting mine classy lingerie this year because it's high time we both get a V-day present.

Not even going to gift wrap it. Just going to place the two sets on the bed when she's putting the kids to sleep, and when she comes down, tell her I laid out her pajamas for tonight, with options.

It's either going to be awesome or...well it'll be awesome either way.

Our 45th anniversary was Sunday. No flowers then, none tomorrow. (FTR, she doesn’t like flowers, and doesn’t eat candy.)

My wife told me early on to never spend that much ordering flowers for V-day. I bet it's nearly $100 these days to get the nice roses.

I might get some another time of the year for her and that is usually just a hand delivery.

I've never understood married people who still celebrate this silly holiday. When you get married, your anniversary replaces that nonsense. It is for people who are dating. That is it.

And ironically the flowers from the grocery store usually last longer than the ones sent from a florist.

My Anniversary is on Valentine's day. Figured I would knock out two birds with one stone.

Valentine's day is dumb. I told my husband to quit buying flowers and/or anything else 30 years ago after he was gouged for a plant. Florist was out of flowers because my husband was last minute because he worked 60 hours a week.

PSA: 2 dozen roses at Whole Foods is currently $19.99 for Prime members.

Picked some up last night and she made her own bouquet. Giving them to her a few days early manages the expectation so there’s not a letdown on V-Day.
