Man shoots himself in head while demonstrating gun safety.

quote:

She told authorities that he had begun showing her how to use his three handguns and demonstrating how safe they were when they were empty, which he did by placing the gun to his head and pulling the trigger, officials said.

After doing this twice, he demonstrated the third handgun and the gun fired, striking him in the head.

My dad taught me this from the moment I had a BB gun. If it is not pointed straight at the sky or straight at the ground you are doing it wrong.

One of my "friends" in high school thought it would be funny to point a gun at me, and then show me it wasn't loaded. He couldn't understand why I punched him in the face and refused to be friends with him afterwards. frick that noise, treat every gun like it's loaded. I don't care if there isn't a clip in there.

Treat every gun as a loaded gun.
Only point the muzzle at what you intend to shoot.
Never point the muzzle at a person, unless you intend to kill that person.

I wonder for how many people in this country, "don't worry it's not loaded" was the last thing they said or heard.

Really not that hard of a concept. A gun is "always" loaded.

Correct action taken, except I don't see "repeatedly" in there. Did you forget to type it?

THis is what we call a 'teachable moment.'

THe poor guy spent his entire life preparing for this one moment in time.

I'll bet she will never forget the lesson.

Props to the teacher.

I was always taught 1) that the weapon is always loaded and 2) Don't point it at anything unless you intend to kill it.

Guess they nailed point 2.

The only reason I have to support banning guns, people are to stupid to own them.
