So more taxes and shifting taxes around is Good. Cutting wasteful spending is Bad. So much for budget cuts.

No, he did not. It was estimated he would have a 330 million dollar surplus.
That surplus can not be rolled forward to be spent on reoccurring items, but goes to paying off debt, the rainy day funds or capital outlay.

Lawmakers will have some $330 million in surplus tax collections from the last budget cycle to carve up when they convene next spring at the state Capitol in Baton Rouge, analysts told the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget Wednesday.
That surplus can not be rolled forward to be spent on reoccurring items, but goes to paying off debt, the rainy day funds or capital outlay.

The forecast is good news for Landry and the new Legislature as the state faces debate over how to plug a several hundred million-dollar hole slated to hit its coffers starting in 2025. That's the expected result of a .45% sales tax set to roll off the state's books, as well as other tax collections being siphoned off for transportation projects.

What is fair share? It’s an undefinable nebulous term.

What I want is a taxing system that makes sense. This makes it harder for poor people and does nothing for rich people, which just puts more strain on the economy, which is worse for rich people.
I don’t think you understand, I’m only not in favor of the tax vehicle. Spending should be slashed for more sustainable and better government outcomes, but this doesn’t do that. It raises government revenues and does nothing to help outcomes.

Everyone called mingo an idiot, not because of what he said, but because he is an idiot. In this case, everyone is, was and always will be, correct.

This is CRAZY to say in a state like corrupt arse louisiana lmao.
You have to get approved by a group of fricking florists if you want to sell flowers in this state.

The real question is why was he the Republican candidate? He won the general because people are tired of democrat's bullshite across the country (clearly). But the Republicans should've had a better person in his seat.
Landry won the first primary against the Dem challenger and against several Republicans.
The people picked him over all the others.

This guy is worse than sloth. No doubt in my mind. At least we didn’t have any hopes for sloth.

OR he could cut government spending
Thanks to our corrupt politicians and our bastardized constitution the only way we can do that is through higher education and health care. The blue dog democrats and RINO’s made it such that we have to cut the things people support the lost to reduce government spending.
We need a constitutional reset

Kind of wild how what I say is going to happen happens and all of the people that were wrong are still the ones that knew what they were talking about.

There’s a reason I don’t opine on shite I have no clue about, but that seems to be a novel concept

I'm telling you, he was handed a shite sandwich and is doing everything he can to hold LA together and rebuild. There is no easy answer. But he loves the state.
We will all take a hit in certain areas...there is no other way out
He is a total clown. Let's spend our energy making marijuana more illegal, putting prayer in public schools (which he knew wouldn't pass through courts), and rent a bargain Tiger for an LSU football game. He has not prioritized real issues in our state at all.

You are arguing with leftist who would give their left nut in support if JBE introduced this tax revision. I welcome reducing individual income and business tax rates in favor of more people (the public, including the people who don’t pay income taxes) paying into the system via sales tax.
Now…. Cut spending and we can hopefully dig out of this mess

They should but that’s not on the table is it.
But let’s be honest, the minute cuts are proposed, the left will cry foul. Y’all always do, just like you are doing now. Some of us remember when reforming higher education in Louisiana was on the table and what happened. Peoples little fiefdoms got put on the chopping blocks and charges of racism began to grow to a fever pitch.
