Exactly, try selling State Farm Life products to the same fools, we had to mouth swab applicants (it was to check for tobacco use) talk about getting a evil stare downs over that shite.

Wrong. They are not allowed to use the snap shot tool to raise your rate. It can only stay what it was prior, unless you get in a wreck or something

You are f'n stupid. They are not meant to help consumers one bit. They are designed to help a business built upon risk, and perpetuated by the state, to mitigate risk in any fashion. They help the insurance company only. If they can offer a discount using it, then they can offer a discount without it.

I used it a couple of years ago and saved about 15%. Perhaps I didn't read the fine writing, but I had to leave it in much longer than I originally anticipated. I was under the assumption I only had to keep it plugged in for 30 days, but it was more like 60 days. Not sure if the time periods have changed since then.

Whatever you do, don't let a woman drive. My ex tossed it out because she said it beeped too much.

I got the max discount.

if you accelerate too quickly or stop too quickly it counts that as negatives. I stopped using it, I didn't want them to know how many miles I drove.

I sell progressive.
It beeps if you brake more than 7mph/second.

It helps older people around me (gulf shores/orange beach) who don't drive that much.

There is no gps coordination. Just measures how far you drive, when you drive, and your driving habits.

Light turned yellow suddenly? Better floor it so that god damn snapshot doesn't beep at you. Someone cut you off? Snapshot doesn't know that.

I did find myself running more yellows because of that damn thing. I believe it only beeped at me twice while I had it. I took my jeep to get new tires and the damn tire shop test drove it and fricked me with 4 infractions. I was PISSED.

They saved me 11% a few years ago when I bought a policy through them. They recommended I do it again to see if ti could save me more.

Might want to ease up and calling people stupid considering that its apparent that you have zero fricking clue as to what you are talking about.

While it does help the insurance company with the basic understanding of the risk they are insuring. To say that it only helps the insurer is fricking stupid.

Device was waaay too sensitive. dang thing would beep when I was just backing out of the driveway. Took it out and mailed it back after a couple of weeks.

It saved me money, but I had to buy them a new device. It's fricking annoying as hell to hear the beeps when you did nothing wrong.

I get what they are going for, but especially in New Orleans, you are at the mercy of the road and other drivers. It would constantly go off when I was in a really bumpy section or when I got cut off. I eventually ripped it out and threw it in the woods. They are like 50 bucks to replace.

Has anyone actually had it increase their rates?

Seems like all feedback is neutral or positive

I did. I got all 30% on both vehicles. HOWEVER, I had nightmares about hard brakes.

Also, most people in here are idiots unless they changed it. It's ONLY based on hard brakes. If you stop 7MPH under 1 second that is considered a hard brake. So if you drop 14MPH under 2 seconds that would be 2. They also don't increase your rate.

it can't cause a direct increase.

however that's not to say they don't use maybe zip code and demographic specific data across the board as intel for their next rate filings.

The damn thing is so sensitive on the breaks I don't like that. I got a beep for turning into my driveway the other day.

It doesn't matter why you had to hard brake it only matters that you did have to hard brake. That's your risk to them. Doesn't matter why you did it.
