They really saved is a lot of money. Our rates were reduced 30% after we completed ours. As long as you are a competent driver, it cannot hurt you.

This was my experience as well. I received an ~30% decrease in my rates and they have continued to decrease as my years of service with Progressive have increased.

My experience (and it's still in all 5 of my cars after 60+ days):

As others have stated, it only recognizes hard braking and also the miles/time of day you are driving. Annoying as hell when someone cuts you off or in heavy traffic with constant breaking. I think my kids are more cautious drivers as a result of it.

It has changed my driving habits....I roll through more yellow lights now and also have mastered the hollywood roll-thru at stop signs

Also, most people in here are idiots unless they changed it. It's ONLY based on hard brakes. If you stop 7MPH under 1 second that is considered a hard brake. So if you drop 14MPH under 2 seconds that would be 2. They also don't increase your rate.

What we use to calculate your Snapshot result
Hard braking—Hard brakes are decreases in speed of seven mph per second or greater. Your Snapshot device will “beep” when you brake hard. Minimize hard braking to work toward a discount.

Amount of time driven—The number of minutes that your engine is running during a trip. To earn a discount, try to minimize your time behind the wheel by combining trips, carpooling or using public transportation.

Time and day—The number of minutes you spend driving during higher risk hours—the highest risk are between midnight and 4 a.m. on the weekends.

Fast starts— Fast starts are increases in speed of nine mph per second or greater. Also known as “jackrabbit starts” or just “putting the pedal to the metal.” Use a lighter foot on the gas pedal to work toward a discount.

Trip regularity—The frequency with which you drive at the same time of day and same duration.

I got a 18% discount. All it measured is hard braking. Also only stayed in the car 30-45 days.

Just be real conscious of it while it's in.
