shitty neighborhood

I would say I live in one of the better neighborhoods in Metairie.

Have zero issues with any of the other neighbors. They are all extremely nice and most have families. The ONE person next to me is the only issue.

I heard a story once of a neighbor that was unreasonable like this so the guy made ice cubes with sugar water and would toss them near the guys sliding back door often enough to keep ants coming in the door but far enough apart that the evidence would melt and dry up. Drove the dude insane.

In all honesty, this OP could be about my dad. He bought some outdoor speakers and blared them full blast 100% of the time. He lives in a duplex (of sorts), and I always told him he needs to turn that shite down. And he was like "Nobody can hear that.."

Then one day he bitches to me that somebody came back there and cut his speaker wires and he was all mad about it. And I was like of course they did, because your music was on 24/7 at 100% volume. I'd have cut them too.

It’s because you called the cops at the wrong time. The guy probably isn’t breaking any noise ordinances until 11pm. If you call at 9 or 10 they can’t do anything.

Call them after 11pm and have them perform a sound test using a decibel meter. Call them the next night and the night after.

Getting the cops involved for such an insignificant matte

Your sleep, peace of mind, proper use of your home, and the ability to live free of encumbrance from this jackass for YEARS is insignificant? It would not be to me. frick that dude. The police have a job and it includes preserving the peace. Everyone could just live with hearing from me every single day until something changes—the neighbor and the police. And things would start “happening” to his house. If I’m miserable EVERYONE is miserable.

Why are you devaluing your own worth?

There are sound proof rooms with some type of foam covering all the walls. You could soundproof all of the walls in your house.

1. keep calling until the cops are fricking sick of going there and writing him citations.

2. maybe check in and call local governing bodies to see what can be done legally.

3. burn his fricking house down.

I don't want to have to do this or even call the cops but he's a hardcore drunk and feels no remorse for what he's doing. I'm tired of walking over to his house at 2 am to have him turn it down to just do it again the next night.

Sounds like he might just want company.

Is he usually alone?

For a neighbor who is a jackass? Naw. HE can put it on his walls if he wants to blast music at all times of the night.

You are likely going to have to get into a fistfight with him. How good are your hands?
