Probably the wrong place to bring this, but does anyone have advice about depression?

Or at least getting out of it, I really would prefer not to get on anti - depressants but I was wondering if anyone had advice on dealing with it.

Change your routine up. Go seek out new things to do. You have to break the cycle.

Start working out and get a hobby. Don't sit around and be bored. That makes it worse. Also, exercise releases natural anti depressants.

Seek counseling. If you’re an LSU student, make an appointment at the health clinic. It’s far more common than most think. A good therapist will be able to help with a combination of advice, strategies and medicine.

Kinda depends on your type. Some people need to calm and focus and think things through and some do better with distractions and activity. Have no doubt that you can find your way out of the hole.

Exercise is effective. Build time for self-fulfillment and self-improvement into your routine. If you smoke- Quit.

If your depression is chemical, you have to do this. See a professional asap and see what he/she says. Nothing wrong or shameful with some pills to help, even if temporarily.

Do the other nature boy shite everyone else says, becuase it absolutely can't hurt, but do yourself a favor and just talk to a pro.

no joke if you don't already do it and are in a position where it's possible I'd try to start smoking pot. It really helps me relieve stress and not freak out about stuff

Don't be afraid of Meds. They can serve a purpose. Just don't think of them as the long term fix

Exercising regularly and eating well goes a long way. Also being social and building relationships can help. Don’t be afraid to admit there’s something to your loved ones, although since you’ve posted here I’m hoping you have. And lastly, don’t be afraid of meds. I understand what it’s like to go through things in life, and have seen meds work on a number of people. It’s hard to admit, but sometimes if there is a chemical imbalance it won’t be solved without help. Being proactive is the best thing to do.
