We need to see pics of your wife/gf/daughter (if of age) to be able to determine if you should be depressed and to give you proper advice.

Check out the book "Feeling Good" by David Burns.
See a counselor to identify the issue and cause, and they can refer your to a psychiatrist. If you do get on meds, I would still attend regular counseling sessions.

Go talk to you doctor. Antidepressants do work but be mindful of their sideffects, in my experience the cure had been a more powerful version of the disease.
Also it’s not just in your head and to get over it. It can be a persistent, debilitating thing

Google art of manliness and depression. Some people might roll their eyes but it has some good articles that might help you look at your depression in a different light and how to approach it.

It's been said several times, but the best thing you can do is to change your routine. Get out and exercise, experience new things.
Explore new places and find new hobbies, maybe even eat something you've never had before.
Anything to break the cycle you are currently in.
And don't forget, if you need to talk to people about this you can. You're not alone in this world

Look to people you trust. Talk your problems out.
If you have no one, seek help. While it may seem like defeat, or a waste of money, talking (to anyone) will help you tremendously.
We (as men) are programmed and taught to go through life without discussing our issues because it shows weakness.
Truth is, the more you hide, the higher chance you implode. It's only a matter of time. Use any and all help you can get.
Trust me, I've been in that same corner. Good luck and hope you pull out of it.

Yeah..the nature boy shite i listed is good and all, but i do realize, for people with legit chemical imbalances, the thought of exercising or cooking/shopping for groceries, can be overwhelming and seem like a waste.
Its not a quick fix. Maybe 2 weeks on a pill is, though. Everyone is different.
If OP feels incapable of making positive changes through habits and consumption, then yeah..see a doctor.

was dianosed with clinical depression in 2014.
the biggest misconception about depression is that depressed people can't be happy. happineess really has very little to do with it. it's just the way you process information, the way you think.
You say you don't want to get on meds. why not? they aren't addictive. SSRI's aren't addictive. Lexapro makes you unable to nutt so it's like birth control lol. i had to go off it to khock my fiancee up.
i can't say enough about lexapro. I take 10mg. it's potent don't get it twisted. you'll know you on it when you first take it. but you get used to it.
note when i say, you know you'll be on it i don't nea you will get high. SSRI's dont make you high. you'll be throwing the frick up and lseep for 2 weeks straight

I was diagnosed with depression with no real life problems, finances solid, relationships solid, work life balance more than solid. There was no reason I should be depressed. Absolutely none.
Things I did,
Cut weight. I wasn't overweight but lost 20 pounds and it made me feel like I was younger. Join a league of something you were good at, for me it was soccer.
Explore. New activities keep your mind focused on the next adventure
Take the drugs. They work. If not vitamin your arse up. St John's wart viyaim b supplements, multi vitamin.
Don't hide it. Be open with friends family Co workers. I always viewed it as a failure. It's not. I rather die than go through it again it as much of medical condition cancer. If it scares people frick em
Drink less, drinking fricks your head up in way that I will never understand.
frick a lot. Something about getting off constantly distracts the mind. The ms will appreciate the attention
It suck is an understatement, it truly does and is crippling. It can be beaten, but only you can make the decision to get out of where you are at. Good luck man, prayer sent

Dude, see a professional and talk to someone who is trained and licensed to practice this thing.
Don't waste your time asking the board that is convinced that white men are the most discriminated group in this country.

getting out of it,
quit any addictive, brain chemical altering substances that you use on a daily basis: nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, etc.
Get out and go for a walk every day, at least 30 min., but preferably an hour of fresh air doing something active and introspective.
try to do yoga a few times per week, study up on meditation and begin a daily regimen.

15% of Americans are on medication for depression.
I get depressed every time my football teams (Ole Miss/N.O. Saints/Madison Central) lose a game. At least 2 of the teams are winning this year.
Sunday (NFL football!) is the worst day for depression/domestic violence in the week.

Speaking honestly- I was depressed about 4 years ago. To the point where I almost gave up on life (not suicide, but damn close) and it took a family intervention to get my shite straight. I have been seeing a therapist ever since and it really helps. Even if it's to the point of "venting" to someone. People have tried to tear me down, but with the help of therapy I've learned to ignore it. Thankfully, I'm on zero meds. For me it was a matter of recognizing the problem and working to tackle it. Focus on what you love in life. For me it was food- sushi it one of my faves, so I made a point of trying new sushi places. It sounds so dumb, but it gave me something to do. I also have some hobbies that I focused on.
Don't feel ashamed. Depression is VERY common. You aren't alone and, while I won't sit here with the "it'll get better" speech, I have to say that this will pass. I promise. It might take work, but you'll be okay. Life is a cycle and you're on a "down" slope right now, but an "up" slope is coming. Just hold on.

Being active helped me. I hated everything when all I did was lay around my house like an a-hole

That’s the problem with it though. The cure almost certainly is exercise, change in routine, getting out, etc, but those are things that currently might not seem possible. It starts the spiral, and if the OP knows those are the things that helps as he doesn’t do them he becomes more depressed, if he becomes more depressed he’s less likely to do them, rinse and repeat. It’s a real hard thing to climb out of.

advice about depression
Relish the thought of stabbing your boss in the eye with a pen if he criticizes your work. Screw him. You do not need his shite.
Go through the motion at family get togethers. It’s not like any of it matters to human history.
And finally, drink yourself to sleep in the fetal position every night. No sense thinking this life will be any better. Embrace the darkness. It’s not going anywhere.
