If you don’t grow up on a reservation or totally look native, you shouldn’t claim that. She and Pocahontas should both resign.

If you have whites pretending to be minorities for the benefits, how bad can being a minority truly be in this day?

Seriously and on topic, if I recall correctly, North American native tribes haven’t given permission to places like 23andMe to compare tests to their DNA or something like that. So, all hits as being “Native American” on those things are based off of comparisons to Central or South American native DNA. I’m sure that’s accurate enough, but something worth thinking about.

Maybe that’s changed since I’ve heard that, though.


Also, it’s kind of funny…perhaps there could be potential cultural tradition there (i.e., an ancestor adopted into the culture) However, this reaction means that the most important thing about you is your genotype/phenotype, despite the same folks saying that doesn’t matter in other cases. Mental gymnastics and hypocrisy on display.
