From her looks, I'd guess she had Native American heritage.

Nah. Millions of Americans have that 'Cherokee princess' family folklore but don't LARP hate whitey and Dolezal their appearance.

You won't get any disagreement from me, there. I'm just saying there are more ways to prove this than a government service unless you are trying to get government benefits.

Lol, i would walk away from anyone that introduced themselves as this.

If you don’t grow up on a reservation or totally look native, you shouldn’t claim that. She and Pocahontas should both resign.

If you have whites pretending to be minorities for the benefits, how bad can being a minority truly be in this day?
I mean that sincerely, and believe events such as these demand new honest conversations on the matter.

The mental gymnastics required for progressives to celebrate people pretending to be a different gender while castigating people pretending to be a different ethnicity is remarkable.

Wait…is she beseeching the mob to treat her with grace and compassion because “she’s only human”?
Do you think she has that same attitude when someone has transgressed in her eyes?

My mom told me that I was Inuit, and despite my growing up with blond hair, I never questioned it. Imagine my devastation and shame when I found out, in my early sixties, that I was nothing more than a Euro-American genocidal colonizer.

Yes, we are well aware of your mom’s oral traditions and the DNA deposited there….

O% in my DNA though
Seriously and on topic, if I recall correctly, North American native tribes haven’t given permission to places like 23andMe to compare tests to their DNA or something like that. So, all hits as being “Native American” on those things are based off of comparisons to Central or South American native DNA. I’m sure that’s accurate enough, but something worth thinking about.
Maybe that’s changed since I’ve heard that, though.
Also, it’s kind of funny…perhaps there could be potential cultural tradition there (i.e., an ancestor adopted into the culture) However, this reaction means that the most important thing about you is your genotype/phenotype, despite the same folks saying that doesn’t matter in other cases. Mental gymnastics and hypocrisy on display.

Yes, this is true.
my great grandmother was from down the bayou and on the 1890 census for Southdown plantation she is listed as Indian - well the census taker wrote ‘Indians’ on the bottom of the page for all the sharecroppers - she spoke Cajun and in my dna there is no Native American dna listed, and barely any French
