Mass incarceration is about the only option since we've paused natural selection.

Pulling a page out of the Harvey Dent playbook.

You saw how that scenario worked out.

That guy is doing a phenomenal job. Hopefully the rest of south/Central America follows his lead.

The El Salvador judicial system unfairly punishes POC.

I'm sure your tune would change if you had a sister get murdered by the cartel because she didn't want to be that one member's "girlfriend"

Due process should only be for those whose guilt is in doubt.

But this is the end result of cartels and crime running rampant. When the kickback comes it comes hard and doesn't give a frick about feelings.

When you realize that major news are owned by billionaires who also dabble in drug sales directly and indirectly (banking, shipping, politically), then you start to understand the true job of 'the news'.

It’s not fricking rocket science how to curb crime. The formula is obvious.

Our leaders here don’t want crime curbed, or at least not enough to do what it requires.

Nope they all walked across the border and came here.. We now have all of his murders..

Funny thing is MS13 started in the US. They weren’t a problem in El Salvador until we started deporting them all back after their civil war ended.

This is simply too effective, so just wait until NGOs and American media spend a year depicting Bukele as a fascist until a color revolution deposing him, then when all the criminals are let out they get fast-tracked to American citizenship because they were political prisoners

El Salvador's government moved thousands of suspected gang members to a newly opened ‘mega prison,’ the latest step in a controversial crackdown on crime that has caused the Central American nation's prison population to soar

Yeah, prison populations tend to "soar" when you start locking up all the criminals.

I'd bet if you asked the average person living in El Salvador, the soaring prison population is a good tradeoff for nearly a whole year without homicides. I know I would take that in a heartbeat here.

This is one of those rare cases where a heavy handed govt is a good thing.

You couldn’t do that here due to our rights, and those rights exist for good reason. To me this highlights why certain groups from certain nations cannot be allowed to immigrate here without proper vetting because scum like MS-13 use our system against us and it creates chaos. The only way to deal with those types is through force
