Honduras will get right on that

This prison didn't get built overnight. Hondurans will argue over who gets which construction kickback for the next decade.

Take a look at the vid their president just posted.

LINK

Best thing I have seen from any political leader in a long time. Actually gives me hope for the future.

I'm sure your tune would change if you had a sister get murdered by the cartel because she didn't want to be that one member's "girlfriend"

Due process should only be for those whose guilt is in doubt.

But this is the end result of cartels and crime running rampant. When the kickback comes it comes hard and doesn't give a frick about feelings.

I don't have a sister but I understand your point. I also don't agree with long drawn out multiple ridiculous appeals process. When things have CLEAR evidence, present it, determine sentencing and move on to the next criminal.

This is amazing. What a turnaround Bukele has overseen. Good for him and for the people of El Salvador!

Meanwhile, we have to sit here and hope for violent carjackers to spend more than one night in jail.

That's what the OP insinuates

It's funny cause most posters are all for this but I'd guess a large percentage of those same posters don't trust our government. But here they're arguing to give government free rein to put people in jail without trials or anything, solely based on their appearance... am I reading this correctly?

Then build a wall. If they aren’t willing to hold their own citizens accountable for murder/other heinous crimes, then build a wall and force them to deal with it. Or have a no go zone where anyone caught in that area is immediately imprisoned.

I had rhenodd thought once that this would be part of Nafta 2. We can't pull this off in America but they can do it pretty easily.

Yeah. Some of the same posters that freaked out about forced vaccines now praising a government for locking up people without evidence of committing a crime or due process. Its funny

Id be happy if the US would just incarcerate and keep criminals in jail as they are legally arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

was in Belize a few years ago on a day tour in the rain forest, we were near the prison, the guide and I were talking about it, according to him there is no ac or fans, no screens, antiquated toilet system, no bail, and no early parole, you get arrested, you stay there until trial, you get convicted you stay ther until sentence is served

it's pretty simple. the president of el salvador took away the presumption of innocence and due process and started mass incarceration.

If you think it's better for an innocent man to end up in prison than a guilty one to go free you are in the wrong country.

If we imprisoned all of new orleans the homocide rate would go down as well. That doesn't mean anyone should encourage a police state

The president of El Salvador has basically run it economically into the ground and will probably be bankrupt this year.

Wonder if he is about to use a large prison population to start producing goods.
